Rache felt her breath catch in her throat as her eyes scanned over the detailed lines of the map, tracing their curves and turns, memorizing each bend in every river and every twist in every road.

The way the cities and villages and forests and mountains were drawn. The names of every town and village and city. Every little detail was important. Vital. Crucial. It could mean the difference between life and death.

She swallowed hard as she continued to pour over it, trying desperately to commit as much of it as possible to her memory.

She needed to remember everything. Everything that might be useful in her future plans. Everything that might help her survive once she began her escape from Sidera.
