Capítulo 15: Chapter 15: Differences and Similarities

“Casey!” Lavinia, whose hair was pulled back, drew the sound of her name out as she entered the library. “Dinner is ready!”

Casey closed the book she was almost finished with. “Oh? What is it today?” She swung her legs under her as she rose from the couch. She wore casual clothes, and God, she was glad to finally have them.

Lavinia pivoted as Casey passed her, so they were walking together. “It’s a stew that I’ve been making.”

“Is that what was smelling so good in the kitchen around midnight?” Casey had mostly been lounging today. Conveniently, most of the hard work she would have was already done. She was sure someone was responsible for helping her quietly.

“Yes,” Lavinia, who hadn’t drawn attention to her help, nodded. “I’m trying to make something I had when I was young. I can only remember the taste since I’ve forgotten how it’s made and my mother couldn’t read.” She sighed. “So no recipes.”
