"I transmigrated!?"
The man screamed, leaping up to his feet while trying to make sense of the situation he was in. He carefully scanned the rocky walls of the mountain he was in, only to find out that the only way out was by flying up out of there. This was out of thought as he didn't have that kind of means. The other option was to climb instead which was even more impossible given that he was still a mortal and any little mistake could lead to grave injuries or death.
"How is this possible?" He asked while trying to remember any bit of information. His last memory was of him being tortured by the loan sharks he owed. Through the horrible pain he was toyed with until he couldn't take it anymore and died, but somehow he was somewhere he didn't know, totally fine if not better than he'd ever been in his previous life.
Yes, he's not of this world and was originally from Earth. His name is Jin, a young orphan who tried his best to make his life better but couldn't outrun the nemesis of the weak, "being dominated by the strong". No matter how developed a civilisation is, when broken down to the most basic components one thing is prevalent and that is "survival of the fittest".
"Is this some sort of purgatory?" Jin pondered but the throbbing ache in his head made him dispel the idea.
"Then is this the popular transmigration? Just what the hell is happening!?" Jin couldn't quite believe he had somehow managed to survive the terrible ordeal with the loan sharks and even transmigrated to another world.
He dusted himself as he kept thinking of the possibilities of being in a new world with a clean slate. Thinking back to his days on Earth, all the manga and anime he saw of characters getting sent to another world and acquiring cheats that help them become top experts who overshadow all others in that generation and leave a long lasting legend, his heart raced.
"I should have my own cheat right? Seeing as I'm a transmigrator too. The heavens won't be biased right?" Jin contemplated, a bit down and uncertain. But it was soon replaced by an excited expression, he walked around for a bit before coming to a halt in the middle of the rocky chamber.
With a glint in his eyes he cleared his throat and bellowed
"System!"
". . . . ." Jin was a little flustered but he shook it off and proceeded to try again, this time much louder than before
"System!"
". . . . ." Now he was getting nervous and tiny beads of sweat started forming on his forehead. His hands were fidgeting as his breathing was unsettled.
"God damn it! Status! System! Home page?!"
". . . . ."
"What is going on? Why is my case always different!?" Jin lamented with a pained look on his face. He looked around the one-way up mountain exit and felt bitter because he knew he couldn't get out of here no matter how much he tried.
He sat down with his back resting against the wall and his left arm placed on his left knee. Deep breaths could be heard from where he was seated, clearly downcast and without hope of getting to explore the world he barely arrived in. Who would expect to get transmigrated and die even before leaving your spawn point.
Jin stayed in this position thinking of how to possibly leave this place and see what the world looked like. He stayed still for so long he fell asleep.
"Ding!"
Jin was startled by the sudden sound in his ear. Barely opening his eyes he was shocked again by the mechanical female voice that followed after
"System detected!"
"What?!" Jin sprung up from his sleep at the sound of the system notifications. His disbelief was abundantly clear from his face as there was a purple coloured system interface right in front of his face.
"Ding! Binding with host!"
"Is it finally happening?! The system finally arrived!" Jin screamed in joy as he finally got his cheat in this new and unfamiliar world. He stared at the interface with pure joy, caring for nothing else around.
"Ding! Binding successful!"
"Preparing to synchronise with the host!"
"Dum! Dum! Dum!" His heart beat vigorously from the excitement of finally obtaining a very important tool for every world traveler.
"Sync processing!"
"10%. . . 25%. . . 40%. . . 55%. . . 70%. . . 80%. . . 88%. . . 95%. . . 100%!"
"Sync successful!"
Jin threw a fist into the air as the sync ended successfully. He couldn't wait to try out the system's functions and find out it's hidden abilities. He was interrupted by another system notification
"Ding! System bound to host successfully! System sync with host successfully!"
"Issuing a one time novice pack!"
"Ding! Congratulations! The host has obtained basic knowledge of the Crimson Jade Continent! Astral body tempering arts! Myriad spear arts! Earth grade mid-rank spear! True Qi scripture! Open system storage to examine and extract the rewards!"
A series of notifications popped up in front of Jin's face while he took his time basking in the euphoria of the moment. He quickly snapped out of it as he remembered the reward mentioned by the system.
"Umm system, how do I get to the storage?" Jin asked a bit confused after looking at the purple interface for a while and not seeing how to do it.
"Ding! The host just needs to think of it and it will automatically appear, remember that you're the only person who's able to see and interact with the system!"
"Just that? Really convenient!" Jin replied in awe of the system and immediately tried out what the system told him.
"Open storage!" Jin said in his mind and just like the system told him, the spatial storage appeared on the purple system interface. There were 5 items laid out neatly side by side.
The first was the basic knowledge of the Crimson Jade Continent, with a thought Jin extracted the knowledge. He closed his eyes in pain as the information crammed into his head. Names, factions, cities and towns he'd never heard of before were swirling in his mind.
After some minutes the bubbly information died down and he opened his eyes again. "Wow what a weird feeling, if this is how it's going to be every time I receive a reward then I don't think I'm getting used to it anytime soon." Jin thought while massaging his temples.
According to his new knowledge, he was in Xunatian world focused on the cultivation of immortality. Where strength was key and the weak could only curse the heavens for making them weak. This world was so much bigger than his original world Earth with so many continents and lone islands spread all across the world. He was in a continent called the Crimson Jade Continent which was divided into 5 regions, still the regions were bigger than some continents on Earth.
Due to the sheer size of the regions, there was no unified power in charge of governing the rest. This caused clashes and sometimes all out war between several factions, sects, clans, gangs and organisations. A never ending circle of new factions rising and old ones falling to ruins.
