"I will pay for her coffee and everything she has ordered," Jay's voice was heard from behind Elsa, who was busy daydreaming with the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
"What are you doing here?" Elsa asked, surprised by his appearance in an expensive business suit. His handsome face caught the attention of every girl in the coffee shop.
"I needed some coffee before a business meeting. What are you doing here?" Jay asked, looking at his secretly newlywed wife, who was wearing her school uniform.
"I missed my breakfast because someone made me overtire myself and wake up late. Thankfully, that person knows his place and is treating me to coffee and some pastry," she said aloud, making Jay smile at her comment.
Ben arrived just in time to remind his boss about the upcoming meeting in the conference room. They had successfully acquired the entire Bulle Education Group, which consisted of a few top universities in Switzerland and an elite school for the rich.
The acquisition had significantly impacted Jay's business portfolio and his overall wealth. Jay had paid a large sum of money to acquire the education group, but his business instincts proved right as the group was worth more than the money spent.
"I will pick you up in the afternoon!" Jay instructed Elsa, leaving no room for her to argue. He walked away with his assistant, leaving Elsa speechless with her coffee.
"You just won a jackpot..." the café bartender commented, snapping Elsa back to reality. She smiled and tried to walk out elegantly.
Elsa sat in the smoking area, enjoying her coffee while inhaling the smoke from other smokers. She was too lazy to smoke herself. She couldn't believe her life had become entangled with a stranger, but she loved it.
"What are you thinking about, baby?" Oswaldo interrupted her thoughts.
"Nothing… it's just my own train of thought," Elsa excused herself, hiding her secret relationship.
"Let's go back to the classroom…" Oswaldo said, reaching out his hand to take her back to their classroom after the coffee break.
They returned to the classroom, where Elsa listened to the lecturer for financial accounting while sipping her coffee. They had a full period session before the lunch break.
In the dining room, everyone was on their feet, serving perfect food. The best students in the fine dining room were serving Very Important Persons, including the dean and the business director of the school. The chefs and staff wore serious expressions, showing no signs of smiles.
Today, they served a full spread of salad, bread, and dessert bar. The hot food included grilled chicken, roast beef, roasted potatoes, grilled baby vegetables, and vegetarian lasagne. To accommodate the Asian students, they also served plain rice.
As usual, Elsa queued with Nini and Sara. Andre and Eric followed behind them. They planned to have a quick and easy lunch in the cafeteria.
Elsa noticed the dean and Jay walking into the fine dining room with Jaisal as one of the student representatives. She sat at a table with Nini and Andre, but Luu boldly decided to sit next to her.
Elsa could feel Jay's sharp stare when Luu tried to get close to her. Jay listened to the dean and some staff, but he seemed unhappy, and it showed on his face.
Elsa ignored Jay's reaction, enjoying her meal and occasionally answering Luu's questions without taking them seriously.
Her phone rang, and she got up and ran outside to answer the international call. It might be her mother, and it would be expensive if she didn't answer immediately.
"Mom..." Elsa answered, but it was a man's voice on the other end.
"Babe, how are you?" the low, hoarse voice asked, triggering an unpleasant reaction from Elsa.
"Who gave you my phone number? I left my hometown at your new wife's request," Elsa responded unhappily.
"I know you kept your side of the bargain, but Eve isn't happy and dragged me to Switzerland for our honeymoon. I contacted your brother to get your number to warn you about our presence here. Please ignore us and avoid any crazy ideas she might have," Thomas explained.
"I hate both of you!" Elsa snapped, hanging up and storming back to her room to vent her anger. She couldn't believe that deep down, she was still affected by her ex-boyfriend and her ex-best friend.
