Eleonore’s POV
There was something blocking the twins’ memory of their mother. I couldn’t tell what sort of magic it was, but it was magic nonetheless, something I had never seen or felt before. It wasn’t mage magic, it wasn’t magic induced by wolves or vampires, either. There was no scent or trail of a common thing that I had been introduced to, this was… foreign, strange, foreboding.
I took a step away from them, unlinking the touch I had had with them and breaking myself out of the trance I had been in. I felt my own magic recede from them as I stepped away and the look in their eyes returned to normal.
“El–?” Rhett asked me, blinking away the haze that had settled in his vision, but I shook my head as I turned towards the door, walking away from them as I turned the handle open and pulled on the door.
