Capítulo 8: Modus Operandi

Malfrid had hired two women to work in the house. The first was a middle-aged woman who was in charge of chores and the second was a young widowed wolf who would be taking care of Jade’s needs, as per his mother’s request.

While to some, an extra pair of hands might be useful, but for Jade, it was only a burden.

To be guarded all hours of the clock would eventually prove detrimental to her mission. Furthermore, she still had to scout and look for information on where the relic was hidden, now that it had been moved to a more secure area.

The younger woman, Kari, was always at Jade’s beck and call. If she ever so much as even looked at the water jug, she would appear by her side within seconds with a glass of water, freshly filled. She stuck around and watched her like glue, and even in her room, Jade wasn’t fully safe from Kari’s company.

In the end, Jade had to hide behind closed doors, feigning a loss of appetite and exhaustion just to get her away.
