The spectacle orchestrated for Taiyo Oga lasted only about half an hour, with the final outcome leaving Takashi Komuro and Rei Miyamoto as the sole survivors. Eriri hadn't particularly targeted them, as, while she found their personalities unpleasant, it wasn't enough to make her go out of her way to kill them. They managed to escape from the pursuing corpses on their own merits.
Now, they'd left the area and, with some luck, found a working motorcycle by the roadside and were speeding toward the Bridge.
...
With the deaths of Taiyo Oga and the two other Reincarnators, Eriri remotely retrieved their Lord God's Shards from several kilometers away. Three more fragments brought her total collected pieces to thirteen over the past few days, including eight in the Akame Ga Kill world, and the ones from Yukino and Kei Karuizawa yesterday.
However, the Mid-Level Lord God's Shard barely registered with Little Skirt, who was now High-Level Intermediate chat group. Even collecting dozens more wouldn't make a difference.
The additional fragments added another fifty million points to Eriri's account, though this time she had other plans rather than distributing the points in red envelopes as she usually did.
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): Ladies, I have a wonderful new idea—the "First Interdimensional Besties Martial Arts Tournament"! The date is set for one month from now.]
[Luo Cuilian (Level 5, Stage 6): A martial arts tournament? Sounds interesting, Eriri! Could you tell us more?]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): Just like the usual tournament format. Opponents are decided by drawing lots, with elimination rounds until the final three are chosen.]
[Elaina (Level 4, Stage 7): Since it's a tournament, there must be prizes, right? What's the reward for the winners?]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 4, Stage 6): The power difference is too big! I'd stand no chance of winning.]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): Don't worry! I'll level the playing field so that everyone's strength is equalized. The competition will be based on skill alone, and you have a whole month to train!]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): As for the prizes, you won't be disappointed! The first-place winner will receive one hundred million points, second place fifty million, third place ten million, and everyone who participates will get one million as a consolation prize.]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 4, Stage 4): Yay!]
[Arifureta (Level 4, Stage 9 / Group Leader): Giving away nearly two hundred million points for prizes? That's incredibly generous, Eriri!]
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 4, Stage 3): I'd expect no less from my dear Nee-sama!]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): A mere two hundred million points? It's nothing! I'll host a martial arts tournament every year from now on!]
Points were just a number to Eriri. She still had billions left in her account, enough to fund many tournaments in the future. Plus, it wasn't as if points were any use to her personally; they'd only keep accumulating.
[Arche (Level 4, Stage 7): Will you be participating in this tournament, Eriri?]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 6): Of course not. If I joined, you'd have no chance of winning. shrug.jpg]
[Arche (Level 4, Stage 7): Uh…right…]
[Luo Cuilian (Level 5, Stage 6): !!!]
No one could argue with Eriri's confidence, and Luo Hao was no exception. Only a few days ago, she had witnessed Eriri's prowess in the training arena, where Eriri had been an absolute powerhouse at any level.
[Luo Cuilian (Level 5, Stage 6): Then the first place prize is as good as mine!]
Seeing the one hundred million points offered and knowing Eriri wouldn't be participating, Luo Hao was thrilled. Points were what she needed most at this moment—one hundred million would be enough for her to reach the planetary level.
She was confident in her abilities as the reigning leader of the martial world. Before becoming a Godslayer, she had already been the strongest martial artist in China. With everyone on an equal playing field, she was certain of her victory.
[Erina Nakiri (Level 2, Stage 9): It seems the top prizes are out of my reach, but at least there's a consolation prize.]
[Nodoka Haramura (Level 2, Stage 4): Same here.]
[Jibril (Level 4, Stage 9): Oh? I don't believe I'll lose in a contest of skill.]
[Luo Cuilian (Level 5, Stage 6): Is that so? Then we'll settle it when we meet in the arena!]
Thus, the date for the First Interdimensional Besties Martial Arts Tournament was set. The tournament rules and rewards were pinned as a prominent announcement in the chat group, where everyone would see it immediately upon logging in. This way, any newcomers who joined over the next month would be well-informed.
Now that the tournament had been decided, many group members immediately began training in the arena, except for a few like Chika and Asuna who weren't aiming for the top spots.
With most of the group out, Eriri ended the livestream.
...
Two cars sped down the road, the sound of their engines attracting nearby corpses that tried to give chase, but they were too slow and quickly left behind.
They encountered many blockades of corpses on the way, which Kei and Saeko took care of. With each battle, their strength grew, and Kei finally crossed the threshold into superhuman territory, allowing them to clear corpses even faster.
The rest of the group—Saya Takagi, Shizuka Marikawa, and Kohta Hirano—couldn't hide their shock, stunned that Kei and Saeko could improve so dramatically in just one night.
Since Saya and the others hadn't been around when Eriri had granted energy seeds to Kei and Saeko, they didn't know the cause of the sudden increase in strength. Still, it was clear the transformation was somehow tied to Eriri or Akino, as Kei and Saeko's performance was far beyond the ordinary.
While Saya and Kohta were envious, Shizuka was just full of admiration for the two, cheerfully exclaiming how amazing they were. The difference between an innocent mind like hers and an average person's was unmistakable.
Following Saya's directions, they soon arrived near the Takagi estate, where the number of corpses thickened the further they went.
"Ms. Shizuka, you can slow down and stop here," Saeko called from the roof of the Humvee.
With her enhanced vision as a superhuman, Saeko had already spotted the barbed-wire fence marking the perimeter in the distance. As for the hundreds of corpses around the vehicles, she didn't consider them a threat. With her current strength, she could handle them on her own if necessary.
"Ah...got it!"
Responding to Saeko's instruction, Shizuka immediately applied the brakes. Though the high speed required a long braking distance, thanks to Saeko's timely alert, the vehicle managed to stop smoothly just in front of the fence.
Behind the Humvee, Eriri's black luxury car followed leisurely, unaffected by the sudden halt. Once they stopped, the corpses quickly closed in, surrounding them. But Eriri and the others remained calm in their seats, watching as Saeko and Kei exited the Humvee and prepared for battle.
The moment the two entered the horde of corpses, they resembled tigers in a flock of sheep. With every swing of their blades, corpses fell around them like wheat before a scythe.
"Unbelievable," Saya muttered as she watched the pile of corpses grow.
At this rate, even a group of gunmen couldn't achieve such efficient killing.
In under two minutes, the entire horde of five or six hundred corpses lay slain. Compared to yesterday, Kei seemed a completely different person, the determination on her face making her seem worlds away from the timid girl she had once been.
All in all, her trial was a resounding success. Even if she returned to her world now, she would be able to handle herself. Saeko, however, was starting to display a strange intensity, a flushed expression revealing her...excitement.
At that moment, the sound of clapping drew their attention.
Saeko and Kei turned, spotting Eriri, Akino, and Yukino standing beside the now-vanished black car.
Eriri snapped her fingers, and in an instant, the pile of corpses on the ground turned to ash and disappeared, taking the stench of death with them.
"Very good, Kei, Saeko. I'm pleased with your progress." Eriri nodded with a smile.
Both Kei and Saeko looked thrilled, as Eriri's approval meant everything to them.
Then Eriri added something that made Saeko nervous.
"Saeko, be careful with your emotions when you fight. Over-excitement could lead to mistakes, you know."
"My apologies for showing such a shameful side, Lady Eriri," Saeko said, slightly embarrassed.
"It's nothing," Eriri replied with a wave. "I understand your situation. A bloodlust like yours isn't an issue if you keep it under control."
Saeko froze, momentarily taken aback. She had fully prepared herself to be rejected by Eriri for her violent tendencies, but instead, she felt accepted. In that moment, a feeling of being truly seen made her even more devoted to Eriri than before.
Meanwhile, Shizuka, Saya, and Kohta had stepped out of the Humvee, with Alice running to Eriri's side. Shizuka, just as cheerful as ever, darted over and threw her arms around Eriri.
"You're amazing, Eriri-chan! Just like that, they all disappeared! How did you do it?"
Despite knowing how powerful Eriri was, Shizuka hadn't felt any fear or intimidation from her, remaining as carefree as when they first met.
Kohta's admiration remained silent, as he was still unsure about his standing with Eriri. Saya, meanwhile, was quietly concerned. Eriri clearly had a strong dislike for men; her open disdain for Kohta was evident. It wasn't because of his appearance but her fundamental aversion to all males.
As Saya pondered her situation, she began to worry. Bringing Eriri back to the Takagi estate would place her near Saya's father and his mostly male guards. With Eriri's charm, Saya had no doubt that some would find themselves drawn to her, and if any dared act on it, she feared what Eriri might do in retaliation.
The thought made Saya sigh, wondering if she was bringing her family a gift or a ticking time bomb.
