"Jellal, just what is this place?"

"I'm not sure. Whatever it is, we need to investigate and find out just what its origins are." A male voice had responded to the first.

"What did you expect his answer to be? These places randomly popped up out of nowhere." Another deeper female voice was heard.

"I don't know! I just want to know what this place is, Ultear!" The first girl shouted with frustration. She then shivered. "It's giving me the creeps!"

This group was none other than the Crime Sorciere, an independent guild that has the goal of eradicating all evil brought by dark guilds and the Black Mage, Zeref. The first member was Jellal Fernandes, a user of the magic known as Heavenly Body Magic. Having blue hair and a mark on the right side of his face.

The next person was Meredy, a user of Maguilty Sense Magic. Having long pink hair held in a ponytail, and having a rather curvaceous body. The final person was Ultear Milkovich, a user of Arc of Time Magic. Having dark purple hair and brown eyes, appearing around the same age as the other two.

Right now, they were exploring this random new area that had suddenly appeared in Fiore. With many others a good distance away. No-one knew of whatever they were, just that they had suddenly appeared without warning. Some people passed it off as nothing.

Some having worries.

Some not caring.

Whatever the reason for their appearance, this group wanted to know. It might have to do with a dark guild for all they knew. The place out of the ones that had suddenly appeared that they were exploring appeared to be a dead-looking forest.

What unnerved them the most about this dark looking forest were the countless gravestones littered all around the place. They also sensed something in the air, it was cold and dark. Despite everything they've gone through, this just seemed to take the top spot.

"Wait, do you guys see that?" Meredy voiced. Jellal and Ultear stopped walking to Look at her in confusion. They then looked towards where the girl was pointing and noticed something, it appeared to be some kind of structure protruding from the ground.

They all looked at each other before slowly walking over towards it, and when they did, they all gave a sigh of relief.

"Oh, it's just a sword..." Meredy gave a sigh of relief as her shoulders slumped. The other two didn't seem calm as they narrowed their eyes.

"Yes, but..." Jellal muttered. Meredy snapped out of her relief and looked at him in confusion. "Why is there a sword here?"

"Yes, that is worrying." Ultear agreed. Whatever the reason for there being a sword here, it didn't mean well, did it? And who left it?

"Perhaps someone came here before us?" Jellal had suggested as he held his chin in thought with his eyes slightly closed.

"Uh..."

"Perhaps. But, why would they leave the weapon here?" Ultear argued.

"Uh... guys?"

"You're right. It seems to be incredibly well crafted, I doubt it was a cheap weapon." Jellal sighed as he thought this. What could this mean?

True to his words, the sword in front of them was both simple yet beautiful. A white blade with a silver fancy handle designed like a dragon.

"Guys!" Meredy's voice finally came through as the both of them widened their eyes and turned towards the pinkette.

"What is it?! Why are you shouting at us?!" Ultear wondered in surprise. They both then noticed the girl gaping like a fish and staring off somewhere.

They were confused, to which they turned to look at what she was looking at. What they saw made them go bug-eyed and freeze in place.

"Wha-!" Jellal was going to yell, but couldn't due to his shock.

In front of them was a figure that was laying down unmoving wearing a beautifully crafted lean suit of armour. Being reminiscent of that of an angelic knight made of glistening silver and golden accents. With a pair of metal feather-like additions on the helmet.

The armour was honestly incredible, looking as if designed by the gods themselves. Seemingly made of a metal unknown to them.

They couldn't help but stare at it in awe.

They had noticed the armour laying down on what appeared to be a tombstone of sorts. But, what else was that...

"Is there someone in there?" Ultear wondered as they cautiously made their way closer to the figure. Which was actually only a meter or so away.

"Kind of small, don't you think?" Meredy asked with a tilted head. What they all noticed was that the armour was rather small in size. They seemed to examine the figure, who was still not moving an inch. Meredy curiously poked the armour with a nearby stick as Jellal to think of something.

It would definitely not fit anyone of their stature. Was the person that wore this armour really short for a man or woman or something? They could only assume so. They could tell, despite the beautifulness of the armour, that it had been through quite a lot.

"Yes, it does. And stop poking it with that stick of yours!" Ultear scolded as she whacked Meredy across the head as she pouted.

"Ow!"

"..." Jellal continued to examine the armour as he tried to think of anything that looked like it. But, he came up with nothing. It was definitely not belonging to the Rune Knights or the Magic Council. Maybe another land? Jellal continued to stare at it, though be soon noticed something. It felt like a rise in magic power, he looked around in confusion.

"Do you feel that surge of power?" Jellal asked the other two as he got into a defence position. The other two stood near him as they too felt it.

"Yeah, what is it?!"

"I don't know. Be prepared!" They all got into their own stances as they looked around. They couldn't find anything at all!"

"Just what is it...?" Ultear wondered. They could sense it, but they couldn't find what was causing it! Was it invisible?

"Don't tell me..." Jellal widened his eyes in realisation. He and the other two felt it rising rapidly, an immense magic power. And it was only getting faster and faster! It felt like the power wasn't going to stop at any time soon! The source was...

"It's the armour! Look out!" Jellal shouted. The other two whipped their heads around, only too soon for all three of them to be sent flying back by an unknown force. They all grunted in pain as it felt like they were struck with an unimaginably powerful force. When they managed to get up.

They shook off their pain and looked to see what had hit them. They were shocked to see that it was the suit of armour that they were marvelling at before! It was now standing and facing towards them, but something was different. Certain spots on it were seemingly cindered in flames.

Releasing a small amount of smoke into the air as it burned, though it didn't seem to be damaging the armour in the slightest. The most prominent part being the visor of the armour that was now glowing a bright orange, in a rather intimidating fashion.

They could feel it, the immense magic power being released. It was all coming from this being, and what frightened them more was that it was probably a small amount of what this thing had. The figure walking slowly forwards as they took steps back. The figure then took hold of the sword in the ground before taking it out and pointing it at them.

"Who are you people? What are you doing here?" The figure demanded. What surprised them was the rather young sounding voice. They could tell the voice held signs of wariness and malice, it did seem that this figure sees them as an enemy of sorts.

"You are obviously not hollows or undead. So, who are you?" The figure once again demanded as he pointed the sword threateningly at them.

What? What were hollows? And undead?

"We..." Jellal was going to say something. But, he stopped himself as he really couldn't find his voice to speak at the short yet intimidating figure.

"Not going to answer, huh? Very well!" The figure now said in a more angered tone. Jellal felt his instincts go haywire. He decided to listen to them as he quickly jumped out of the way, he then rolled to a stop and was in a kneeling position. When he had done this, he could have sworn he felt an insanely powerful rush of wind go past him, barely missing him.

"Jellal, are you alright?!" Both Meredy and Ultear shouted in concern as they jumped over to his position.

"Yeah! What was that?" Jellal gulped. He stood up quickly as they saw the space covered in a small cloud of dust.

"I'm impressed. You managed to dodge a slash from me, though that was a rather slow one." The familiar voice of the figure sounded.

They gaped in shock as the dust cleared, revealing the figure kneeling with the sword slashed in a downwards position.

The figure having turned his head to the right slightly, as if looking at them. To which he slowly began standing up. They could only pale at what they saw. The trail left when the figure rushed at Jellal was scorched, speaking volumes of the speed.

The damage created by a single slash of the sword more so as the ground in front of the figure was destroyed greatly. Shaped like the slash of a sword and cutting the ground and trees cleanly, the destruction by the sword reaching about fifteen meters.

"Be careful! I doubt this is what this being's fully capable of!" Jellal shouted as they nodded. The figure gave a chuckle at this. Without warning, the figure began running at them with insane speeds. Not as fast as before, but still an insanely fast speed, exceeding even Racer, someone whose magic is based on speed!

"Maguilty Sodom!" Meredy declared. Teal blades of magic appeared behind her, to which they fired towards him. The figure didn't stop his advanced as he easily sliced through them all effortlessly and with unprecedented speed and precision. "What?!"

"Infinite Sphere!" Ultear decided to give it a shot. She tossed her orb towards the figure, who was prepared to slash it. Though he was surprised when it glowed and multiple of them appeared around him. He did not expect this.

"Yes! I got him!" Ultear smiled. Though, it all soon fell when a flash of light happened. They saw as if the figure appeared a meter more forwards before continuing his run. The orbs were in the air, but soon fell apart into tiny fragments. And they knew it, he had managed to cut them all down in less than a second.

"Such strange magic you wield, unlike anything I have ever seen." The figure said before appearing in front of them. The figure then kicked the both of them in the stomachs, sending them flying back into a wall. Creating massive cracks.

They soon fell to the ground unconscious due to the amount of force in the kicks. He then looked towards Jellal, who widened his eyes at the display of strength. Who was this being?! What kind of strength was this? He didn't have time to do anything before his allies had been taken out!

"Who are you...?" Jellal muttered as he stared wide-eyed at the figure. Who, in an instant, had appeared in front of him with their sword pointed at his neck.

"I suggest you surrender. You are fighting a losing battle." The figure said in a threatening tone. "You are lucky I'm sparing you."

"I... concede."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Cemetery of Ash?"

"Yes. That is what this place is called." The figure had responded to the voice of Jellal. Who was seen walking behind him.

"My stomach still hurts..." Meredy groaned as she held her stomach. They were walking with Jellal as they followed the figure.

It had been around an hour since the fight they all had. With Jellal surrendering, the figure could see now see they meant no harm to him. Which begged the question, why were they here? He had asked Jellal as they waited for his companions to wake up, to which he now knew that they were here to investigate.

Apparently, the cemetery appeared randomly in their land. Which wasn't the most unorthodox thing he had ever heard, the world held many mysteries. Plus, he honestly had no idea how long it had been since he had been burnt to ashes. How long had it been since he was revived?

He had learnt that this land they came from was called Fiore, which he had never heard of such a thing. Must be from this time period. The magic also piqued his interest, it was far different from what he was used to. Unlike anything he'd ever seen before.

Though, what made him raise an eyebrow was the fact that they called out their attacks. Why? Did they need to do that? They had also introduced themselves to him, which now lead to them walking with the figure through this cemetery.

Jellal was trying to understand everything that the figure was telling him, while Meredy was trying to stop the pain and Ultear just deadpanning at her as they all walked.

"By the way, what is your name? I don't believe you've introduced yourself." Jellal decided to ask as the figure answered without looking back.

"I go by many names. The Ashen One. The Champion of Ash. The Unkindled One." The figure had responded as they sweatdropped.

"Do you have a... normal name?" Meredy asked with a massive sweatdrop while still holding her stomach. To which he stopped and stared for a second.

"Rein... Rein Aztol." The figure, now known as Rein, replied. He normally never used his actual name, he never needed to.

"I see, nice to meet you, Rein." Jellal nodded. Rein just nodded with crossed arms. "Also, I was wondering something. Mind showing us your actual face?"

"Hm? Why so?" Rein asked in confusion. Why did they want to see his face? Was it not normal to wear a helmet any more or something?

"It's just that..." Ultear chimed in. Rein looked at her before she nervously said. "Well... you sound young. So, we were wondering..."

"I see. Very well." Rein shrugged before reaching towards his helmet. They all watched as he began to remove the helmet. When he did, they all gasped at what they saw. It revealed to be a kid no older than thirteen! They thought he would have been an adult!

He had beautiful fair skin along with a battle-hardened looking face. Having midnight clean straight black hair and a pair of orange eyes. Despite his age, his eyes seemed full of wisdom, holding emotions of sadness, despair, anger, happiness and... nothingness.

His eyes honestly looked dulled as they appeared slightly emotionless. They were the eyes of a warrior who had seen too much, not of someone his age. His face appeared perfectly sculpted, as if it had been sculpted by a professional artist. In other words, he was handsome.

They could only watch in silence as Rein began placing his helmet back on his head. He then began walking once again. They snapped out of their stupor and shook their heads before running after him. To which they slowed down as they continued walking with him.

"Where are we going exactly?" Jellal decided to ask as his group seemed confused at where Rein was walking towards.

It was almost as if the kid knew this place as if he were looking at it from above. All they've seen were gravestones and terrifying enemies. True to these words, as they had been walking, they had encountered gruesome-looking skeletal-like characters.

They had never seen such things, gruesome and disgusting. While not as strong as what they've faced, still decently powerful enough to be considered B-Class wizards. But, they've watched Rein deal with them as if normal harmless animals. When they asked him about them and what they were, he just said he'd explain later.

"We're going to the Firelink Shrine. A safe haven of sorts for those that lived in my homeland."

"Lothric, right? You said that it is a strange place, how come?" Meredy wondered. Rein replied vaguely. "Let's just say it was a mix."

The Crime Sorciere looked at one another and shrugged their shoulders, he was probably going to tell them at some point. They continued their walk before coming across what appeared to be rundown ruins of some sort, looking pretty damn ancient.

They continued walking through as they all, aside from Rein, looked around in interest. It didn't take long before they arrived at what looked like a big arch-shaped gate. They began walking through the gate, to which Rein soon stopped walking. Jellal noticed as he stopped as well, which Ultear did the same. Meredy on the other hand...

"Ow!" Meredy had bumped into Ultear's back, to which the woman comically glared at her. Making the pinkette sweatdrop. "Why are we stopping?"

"Look." Rein said simply. The three walked beside him to look at what he was referring to, to which they widened their eyes.

"Who... is that?" Jellal muttered.

In the centre of what appeared to be an arena, was a figure kneeling on the ground with a fist planted in the ground. It was unmoving and was wearing a cast-iron armour that was intricately designed. Beside it was also a massive halberd.

"If I can remember correctly, his name is Iudex Gundyr. A poor soul indeed." Rein said with a hint of sadness as he began walking. They seemed confused at the last part, but followed nonetheless. It seemed that this Iudex wasn't moving at all as they were in front of him.

Now that they could see him up close, there appeared to be a sword impaled in his body, making them cringe, aside from Rein.

"Jeez, he's tall... huh?" Meredy muttered as she stared at the sheer size of the man. He was far bigger than any man she had ever seen before.

"Interesting..." Jellal muttered as he stared at the warrior. Rein was looking at him before looking around.

"That weapon, to think this person would use such a massive weapon." Ultear said with crossed arms as she stared at the huge weapon. Having been twice her size.

'It seems that Iudex's duty is still set in motion, how sad...' Rein said with closed eyes behind his helmet. He then noticed the large doors on the other side. He knew that they won't open until certain conditions have been met, and the conditions were right in front of them.

"Alright. Before we take any act-."

"Hey, guys! Check this sword out!" Rein was interrupted as they all turned to see Meredy pulling on the sword inside Iudex's chest. She was using her right leg as assistance as she pushed against his leg to apply more strength. They then saw her managed to pill it out, with much difficulty.

"Phew! That thing was lodged in him real good, yikes! Must be painful!" Meredy shivered as she barely managed to carry the rather large coiled sword, though she soon dropped it to the ground due to its weight. The blood of Iudex dripping from it slightly, though most of it seemed dry. Seemingly not used to this much blood, they cringed, except for Rein.

Rein, Jellal, and Ultear all staring as the figure behind Meredy began to shift and stand up. With them gaping like fish, except for Rein, who facepalmed.

"You gotta be kidding me..."
