Carson was undeniably down in the following days, despite having fun with Ivy's friends. He didn't understand why she had brought him along in the first place and was so confused and stressed about something that hadn't even happened yet that he had a hard time focusing on anything.
He was a wreck and he knew it. She knew it too even if she didn't know the reason why. She had always been able to notice when something was off about him.
It used to be because she could read his mind but after turning her telepathy off, he figured it was because she knew the tells that went along with his thoughts too well so not having access to the latter didn't stop her from knowing something was up. She knew him better than virtually anyone so there was no hiding when something was wrong.
At least he could hide what was wrong now though. That was a major improvement.
