Capítulo 52: Picnic by the lake
When she woke up she was starting to feel a cold coming on but decided to ignore it. Not like she could do much about it out here anyway she thought, in just a few hours she would get to see Bakugo. They were going to meet in town and walk to the lake together to enjoy their picnic. She of course left out that she was staying not far from that same lake in a tree, if he knew that he would be trying to get her to go back much faster. Shinta took flight towards the part of the city where they were going to meet and walked around to kill time. The entire time she walked around keeping her head on a swivel to make sure she was safe as were the people on the streets, it almost felt like the old days when she would be on patrol. It made her start thinking about hawks and everyone else more, how much she missed them all even. "Maybe I'll go see hawks tomorrow" she mumbled to herself as she found a nice shaded spot under some trees that were rather secluded in the area where she was to meet up with bakugo to sit under. After a bit she felt she was being watched and decided to start moving again, she really hoped where was was sitting would have been fine. Shinta reluctantly headed back towards the busy streets, being around others she hoped who ever was watching her would just leave. Shinta did her best to just blend in with the crowds eventually the feeling of being watched went away and it was about time to meet up with Bakugo. Quickly heading back to the meet up spot she saw him standing there with a picnic basket in hand and she smiled "Hey Papa bear. You ready?" She asked taking his free hand in hers as they started to head off to the lake, she was going to take him on the hiking path to avoid him seeing the tree she has been living in. The hiking trail took a bit longer but the view was nice as well. After the scenic hike they arrived at the lake and Shinta set up a small fire for them while he set up the blanket and laid out their food. "Lets start with what you saw that day" she said to Bakugo as he handed her a Bento "Thats fine but eat as well" he said to her opening his bento as well.
"Deal" she said before taking a bite of the food and she sighed in delight, it was so good. "As I told you I was staying with Dabi. Well there was a time where he was busy a lot, staying at the villains hide out I got to know some of the others. While Dabi was busy I got to know Shigaraki, he isn't as bad as he seems deep down" she said before taking a few more bites of her food. That and to give him time to process what she was saying. "Yea right. He is a monster you saw him that day, there cant be anything good left in him" he said as he continued to listen to her "I became that, he wasn't always like that. Anyway I was starting to get into a dark place not having anyone I care about around me. I let Shigaraki talk me into letting him give me another quirk. After I agreed thats when I went quiet for two months. I was in the doctors lab getting that quirk. The only one Shigaraki was aware of was the shapeshifting one, however the doctor added some type of healing to me. The hospital told me when I got there I had a few bad injuries but by the time they were able to get me into a room they were gone. The mask I had that day is how I change to that form, its used as a totem to help me control the form I am in" Shinta said looking down expecting him to get mad. They were told how dangerous the doctor was in the past, how risky that could have been for her even. "I…how could you let them do that to you? What if it didn't work, you would have just turned into another Nomu. I can't believe you agreed to that monsters whims. Guess I should be grateful that crazy doctor did something nice at least. But wait, what was the catch to this 'gift'?" He asked her doing his best to remain calm. They were about half way done the bento boxes by this point. "That villain our friends brought up when we all saw each other at the coffee shop. Yami, she is me. I had to work for them and earn my keep. I was given mostly minor jobs, anything where harm was caused Dabi was sent with me. It was like they were trying to keep me busy and out of the way" she explained and he nodded accepting that answer. "But you acted as a villain, your a hero Shinta. Your not like them, you've always wanted to help others" he said to her softly to show he cared even if he was mad.
"I did what I had to do to survive. I knew they were planning something but I didn't know what. All I knew was it was supposed to be a big fight. My orders were to follow my gut and do what felt right. Shigaraki told me it didn't matter what side I chose. But during that fight, something changed in him. That new version of him did not take kindly to me picking the side of the hero's. Thats why I have a target on me now" she said to him. "I get that, but there had to have been a better place than with them. So he wasn't happy with your decision, so what? You made the right choice. The main things we had all heard about Yami, she mainly stole and caused destruction in areas that were abandoned from what I remember hearing. Are you willing to tell me what else happened?" He asked her as they finished the meals and he got closer to her wrapping his arms around her like old time as they looked over the lake, the rays of sun dancing in the ripples of the water. "She isn't as innocent as the news said. I had done things, things that were pinned on other villains even. I lost myself on some of the jobs I was given, I don't even fully know what happened on them. I know I completed my tasks, but on those specific jobs…I would come to back at the hide out with blood that wasn't mine on me and my clothes. Bakugo I think I killed people when I was in that state. We have seen how dark I can get before back at the sports fest. Unlike that time I didn't have someone to stop me" she said looking down and away ashamed in herself. "That is tough news to hear, but Shinta I get it. I remember what happens when your under pressure or in high stress environments. I remember seeing that switch anytime you were severely injured or got too angry. So you have an inner monster that breaks out occasionally, I'm not running. I told you; your mine and I don't plan on letting you go anytime soon" he said to her making her look at him before he gave her a gentle kiss. "Regardless of what has happened, your here now. With everything that has happened I really do have to agree with Aizawa. You should come back to UA, you'll be safe there. After the last time villain's managed to get onto the school grounds Principal Nezu really upped security. The school is practically as secure and protected as Tartarus" he said and she smiled softly before it faded. "Even still I don't know if I can. Our friends, I don't know if they can accept all of my changes as well as you. My brother sho, he doesn't need me around to cause more trouble. Aiza…Dad, I miss him so much but I'm scared they wont accept me anymore" she admitted to him. "They all keep asking about you, some of our friends have been helping me look for you before we finally found each other. Aizawa is worried about you and wants you home. He also wanted me to tell you something when I found you. He wanted me to tell you "Thank you for your quick thinking on the field. I managed to recover so well thanks to your quick thinking". He loves you like his own and I don't see that ever changing" he said to her which helped put her mind at ease some. "Listen I wont make you go back but please think about coming back. It would be better for all of us if you did. Oh before I forget I made a few extra Bento's. Your gonna take keep them and make sure to eat. Everything in them should last at least a day or so, you can drop the containers back off at my parents when your done with them. I unfortunately need to head back its getting late and they do still have a curfew in place anyway to help keep people safe. I got to make sure to get back before it hits. I want to see you again in a few days you hear me. Now that I know your out here I plan on seeing you when ever I get a chance until I can get you to agree to come back" he said as they started packing up the things he was taking back with him.
Once everything was packed back up Bakugo put his jacket around her "hold on to this for me" he said pulling her in close for another tight hug. "Want me to fly you back close to the school? Like the old days" shinta asked him softly trying to to put on that brave face. When he hugged her he could feel her temperature seemed elevated and since earlier in the day she seemed to have paled a bit, it made it him nervous she was getting sick. Maybe he would have to involve Aizawa to get her to return after all. "Sure Teddy bear" he said as she held on to him and took flight. She took a more scenic route for them so they could enjoy the time together before she touched down on a side street near UA. "I'll reach back out in a few days and don't worry I won't let those bento's go to waste. I've missed your cooking. Have a great night papa bear" she said and he nodded before he hurried onto school grounds. Shinta took back off towards the lake to grab the items she had left behind including the extra meals he had made her. As she got closer to the tree she had been staying in she stopped seeing that someone was at the tree 'They found me?! I need to get out of here' she thought to herself before quickly taking off with the bag of food in hand. She wasn't sure where to go and just kept flying circling the city but never following the same pattern. Eventually the sun started to rise her wings were aching and she could see them starting to smoke, they would ignite soon if she didn't land somewhere. Shinta did a quick scan of the area realizing she was near Hawks apartment and quickly went to his balcony to land. She tried the door that was typically always unlocked but to her surprise it was locked and her heart sank thinking the worst. She then collapsed on one the lounge chairs on his balcony. 'I'll just take a nap here. Its hawks balcony no-one would think to find me here. I don't have the strength to keep going right now anyway' she thought to herself before she passed out from exhaustion.
