Once again I had found myself at the mercy of the doctor. Thankfully, this time she had regained conciousness on the ride back to the house.
My father had been the one to pull her from the building when we realized she hadn’t gotten out with the rest of us. It may have been the only decent thing that man has ever done.
I needed to find out why he was there. If he somehow had been the person behind the emails. Although that person seemed to genuinely care about Lavender’s well-being. My father only cared about himself.
Cerberus gently grabbed my arm, pulling me from my internal debate.
“You need to get your head checked out,” he reminded.
I had a gash above one of my eyebrows and a pretty good bruise on my jaw. Minor compared to what it could have been. Demi seemed to have gotten the worst of it all. What had she been doing there, anyway?
“After Lavender,” I said, and he nodded.
