Capítulo 2: Red

"Good morning Mr. Rodgers!" Called the little girl, her bicycle making skid noises as she rode past him. She heard his faint greeting, before turning a corner. It was to the brim of being empty, unlike just before. As the girl rode down the street, she looked at the various houses. One side looked fancy and nice. The grass being nicely cut and green, as if dry grass never excited. The trees being a beautiful pink fall, the leafs only falling on that side. The houses were recently painted, most being white and black, others being brick and looking as if it was in the olden days. That side made the girl smile.

When she looked off to the right, it was horrific. There being weeds in the grass, it almost shriveled into nothing. The trees looked dead, having little to no leafs. The houses looked abandoned and medieval. A rotten smell came from that side, it smelling like piss and rotten bodies. It made the girl's nose wrinkle in disgust. Everyone hates that side, some think it's cursed. No child in the neighborhood has ever seen someone live on the right side. Some tried, but almost instantly left after. No one dared to go near it. If so, they staid on the left.

After a short minute, she finally reached her house. Her bicycle made a little tackle noise as it skids over the drive thru, parking in the grass. She puts her nightstand down and lifts her leg, taking off her hot black helmet. "Polly! Get inside! It's about to rain!" Called her mother, being wrapped around a robe. Her hair was messy, bed head messy. Her fuzzy cotton robe kept her warm as the breeze flew into the house, making her bare legs shiver and have goosebumps form.

"Sorry mommy!" Polly apologized in her British accent, rushing inside and dropping her helmet on the small bench outside. Once the door closed behind her mother, the heat of the house hit Polly, making her hate it. She had always hate the heat, it would make her have horrible headaches if she wasn't careful. "She's a model in the city, but a slob in the house!" Laughed her brother, carrying a bowl of popcorn to the leather like couch. "Oh shut it would you!" Scolded the mother, waving her hand as she slid her feet across the ground, her sandals barely making it silent.

"Has anyone seen your brother?" Called the father, walking inside with a towel. He was covered in grease, the stench of his sweat filling everyone's nose. He was an engineer, so it was normal, but not pleasant. "Sammy's probably out playing with the other kids." "You're his mother Rebekah. Shouldn't you be more worried? It's 'bout to rain!" Told the man. "You're being ridiculous Paul! You know him. Him and his friends love the rain." Rebekah, the mother, wrapped her robe around her body tightly, almost ripping it. "If he isn't back within an hour, I'm looking for him." Grumbled the husband, limping towards the kitchen. He was a large man, around 6'7, so his feet raddled the ground with each step.

Polly sat beside her brother Arthur with a worried look. She was much like her father, being the worried type. Her brother saw the look, patting her on the head. "Hey, he'd be alright! Last time I saw him, he was with that teacher. Everyone loves him. So if he does get caught in the storm, he'd have a safe place to shelter in!" Arthur said in a optimistic tone, taking a bite of his popcorn. "You're right." Polly sighed, laying her head on his shoulder, closing her grey eyes. After playing, she was exhausted and worried. Polly couldn't do anything about her brother. She only hoped he was alright.
