10 years ago, the 2 realities collided called the sky tipping event, now years later random wormholes open some large some some small, earth was thrown into chaos as creatures and strange objects from the cultivation world earthlings called the otherworldly. The Qi from the otherworldly flowed through the wormholes and polluted the earth, the qi mixed with the essence of the earth drove many insane, animals who absorbed the qi mutated and become monsters , the dead become ghosts. people found that pure qi energy came from the wormholes and instead of absorbing the polluted earth qi, they could cultivate if they concentrated and absorbed the qi that came through the ransom wormholes, items that came through the wormholes can purify the contaminated earth qi, and are called artifacts or strange object.

One of the best new novels in the past few months, with its main genres being: supernatural, horror, wuxia (martial arts) xuanhuan (fantasy-style eastern cultivation aka ‘not-xianxia’), and world travelling. The premise isn’t brand new but is done well, being a world where cultivators absorb cosmic energy and gain comprehensive physical and mental improvements, and specific abilities with each stage/level. The characters don’t act brainlessly, and when they do act recklessly the reasons are either clear from context or directly given, so that part isn’t a big issue.
