Li Wei's life was marked by tragedy from a young age. At just 13 years old, he lost his parents, brother, and little sister in a car crash, leaving him with his only living relative, his grandfather. For four years, Li Wei found solace in his grandfather's presence, but this too was taken from him when his grandfather succumbed to cancer shortly after Li Wei's 17th birthday. The loss plunged him into a deep depression, causing him to withdraw from school and lose touch with his friends, who proved to be superficial and uncaring.

One particularly bleak day, as Li Wei grappled with thoughts of the futility of his existence, he witnessed a dangerous situation unfold. A child engrossed in a phone game was oblivious to an old tree teetering dangerously, about to fall. In a moment of selflessness, Li Wei decided to sacrifice his own life to save the child, choosing to end his pain with an act of heroism.
