Capítulo 24: The attack
Isamu walked off as commanded by Suki . He already knew the outcome which was already pretty obvious . What he needed though was to affect the team avatar psychologically during the invasion. Sokka seemed to be a lost cause but not Katara and Aang.
Isamu had spied on the two and Aang was still the pacifist he is whereas Katara was slightly more brutal but still cared for people. The plans had changed and the top priority was to escape this place before Lyz was compromised but he could always sow a little discord in the team avatar.
As he walked back he came across Katara who was practising waterbending at the nearby river. Katara noticed him and stopped her water bending practise . She went and greeted him.
" Hi you must be Tau , Suki's brother . I am Katara . " She said with a smile.
Isamu just sized her up not replicating her handshake.
" What the hell do you and your brother want ? " Tau asked with a chilly tone.
Katara's mood also shifted . She wouldn't allow anyone to disrespect Sokka.
" Your brother is currently fucking my sister at the dojo as we speak ..... I thought you two were together " Tau said.
Katara paused. They hadn't introduced themselves as brother and sister in this island yet this person knew it.
" How did you know he is my brother ?" Katara asked with a frown. The waters ripples as the river flowed. The fish moved swiftly through the current.
Tau let out a small mysterious smile.
" So I am right "
Katara closed her mouth . She had unintentionally revealed her relationship with Sokka. She looked to Tau's eyes. They were cold and distant. A small image formed on her head. Tau was the lion whereas she was the deer.
' I thought they said Suki's brother was useless. ' Katara thought.
She let out an audible gulp . Her body felt cold despite the warm atmosphere . Something with her didn't settle well with her.
" Are you going to reveal our secret ?" Katara asked.
Tau let out a small mysterious smile.
He then waved and walked off . He intentionally let Katara overestimate the dangers. Imagination after all always had that ability .
After this he walked home and shut the doors. He then absorbed this world's chi . He felt the energy around him enter him and he got a surge of new energy . He felt more attached to the ground and heat rose from his body.
It seemed that perhaps he was the descendant of an earth and fire bender . This would prove helpful in the future but as of now he needed to raise his ki so as to make this world more survivable.
He spent the entire night cultivating not letting anything disrupt his focus. The crows wails , the festivity in the village , her sister banging the door to be let in . All of this were but mere hindrances to hm.
Time quickly passed and it was morning already . Isamu woke up from his position and went to buy some groceries for breakfast. When walking back he found Suki in the middle of the road. She was beyond livid with what happened yesterday.
" Why did you lock the door ?" She asked.
Tau let out a mocking smile.
" I thought you would fuck that manwhore the whole day so I saw it unnecessary to leave the door open to burglars "
Pa !
A slap was what was heard . This attracted the villager's attention to the siblings. Tau looked shocked then angry
" You know what sister , go fuck that Sokka guy as much as you would like . You won't hear from me ever again " Tau said before walking away.
Suki was just left there at the crowd wondering what she had done wrong. At the house Lyz and Satomi were already there .
" Had what happened . You really know how to play the jealous and overprotective brother. " Satomi praised.
" Had practise in my second world. Anyway we should just leave this place. It seems too dangerous with the reincarnator around. " Isamu declared.
" We need a boat though . " Satomi said.
Tau approached the kitchen and put the groceries on the table. He then started chopping the vegetables into tiny pieces with a knife.
" I am making fish , want some " He asked the duo who shook there heads.
" Already had breakfast " Lyz responded.
" So about just leaving , how will this happen with the kyoshi warriors everywhere . I doubt Suki would just let Tau leave. " Lyz said.
" We just wait till the reincarnator does his matings then leave "
Satomi cringed at the word mating. Isamu looked at her inquisitively.
" What ?"
" It's just weird for you to say mate . You are more of the vulgar type of guy " She said.
Isamu didn't respond to her . He instead lit the fire wood of the fire using a pure fire bending to start cooking . This didn't surprise the duo . They too knew how to harness the chi of this world to bend .
" How far have you progressed in bending ?" Lyz asked.
" The question is how much chi do I have . Bending is just a culmination of martial art techniques so it is quite easy bend " Isamu said.
" Oh I forgot "
" I wish I reincarnated once to a cultivation world. " Satomi mumbled as she crossed her arms.
The two looked at each other then at her.
" Just be glad you have never set foot in such a brutal place. " Lyz said.
Satomi saw the benefits of a cultivation world because of how quickly Lyz and Isamu adopted to any situation . She however had no clue of the horrors of a world where everything is legal as long as you are strong enough . A literal the strong thrive while the poor toil as slaves to the strong.
" So when do we head out ? " Satomi asked turning the attention back to the main topic.
" I think tomorrow will be great. That way we can further find this reincarnator's weakness and prepare well for our departure " Isamu said. The two agreed on this.
30 minutes later Isamu had finished cooking his breakfast . Lyz and Satomi were gone leaving him alone in the house. Suki didn't dare face him after that so he earned his relaxing free time.
His breakfast / lunch was beautifully prepared. The fish was salty but rhymed well with the vegetables on the side. The food was adequately prepared to cover him for supper too. As he enjoyed his meal , someone knocked on the door.
Isamu could just spread his chi and sense the person but if it was Sokka he would be found out so he opted to use the traditional method of checking it yourself. He opened the door to be met by Katara . She seemed scared and disturbed.
" Katara , please come in " Isamu invited her over . She responded positively and stepped in . She was offered a place to seat on the mat.
" Would you like some food too ?" Isamu asked.
Katara shook her head.
" I have already eaten but thanks for the offer . "
Isamu just shrugged his shoulders and sat opposite to Katara as he took his food.
" So what is the reason for your coming " Isamu asked once he swallowed the food in his mouth.
Katara took in deep breaths.
" Please don't tell anyone about Sokka and I being brothers I will do anything " Katara said.
Isamu gave out a smile with a hint of lust . He knew exactly what he was doing .
" Anything ?" He asked once again.
Katara understood the message .
Would she sleep with some stranger so that her secret is safe or would she allow it to be released to the wild like that . Her answer was simple really . If Tau wanted to fuck her then she would refuse. Her priority was Sokka and she wouldn't do this to him.
" Umm "
Tau's act faltered and he just let out a chuckle.
" I am just playing with you Katara . I know you are probably thinking I want you but I really don't want anything . There isn't really anything you can give me of value. " Isamu said.
Katara who was momentarily relieved felt fear once again. Her fear stemmed from the very fact Tau couldn't be bought.
" However you also shouldn't burden yourself , your secret is safe with me " He maintained eye contact then smiled at her .
Katara was relieved once again.
" Are you sure you don't want any food . I promise you it is very delicious " Isamu said.
" Ok , but please serve a little "
Isamu stood up and brought her some food . Katara took a small bite and her tongue melted in joy . This was a delicacy , the taste was heavenly and unique. She had eaten multiple fish to the point the thought of fish made her taste buds bland but not this one. Tau was a masterful chef.
" Is it good ?" Isamu asked.
" Good wouldn't do it justice. This is the best fish I have ever had " Katara said as she stuffed her mouth with food. She then realised her bad habit and tried to rectify it.
" Oh don't mind me . I actually like a girl who can be herself in front of people. " Isamu said.
Katara let her guard down then she quickly ate her food making sure to savor its taste. She who had started later finished before Isamu . Once they were both done Isamu started a small conversation.
" So tell me more about yourself . I really haven't met anyone outside the island. " Isamu said.
" What's there to tell "
" Your birthplace and how it was , your family , how you found the avatar and your adventures. " Isamu asked.
' The best way to make someone close to you is to make them feel important ' Isamu thought.
And just as he thought Katara started talking about her life at the south pole and later her recent adventures with Aang . Isamu would make it his effort to listen with interest , ask some questions here and there and compliment her on some things.
They conversed or rather Katara did most of the talking for two hours.
" ... and then we are here "
" Wow that's a lot to take in . So you taught yourself waterbending ? You seem like a pro though " Isamu said.
Katara giggled.
" That's because you have never met another water bender . I am actually very clumsy. " She stated.
" It seems we have some things in similarity " Isamu said.
Katara looked at him inquisitively , she felt nice in his presence and she too wanted to know more.
" Like what ?"
" We both are orphans , we tend to be rash at times but we mean well and ..... we both taught ourselves how to bend " Isamu said
Katara widened her eyes
Tau was a bender ?!!
" You are an earth bender ?! " Katara asked nearly shouting . They were looking for teachers of Aang and if Tau could Earth bend that would be great.
Tau shook his head .
He raised one of his arms and a blue flame appeared on top of his index finger. Katara was shocked .
Tau was a fire bender !!
His flames were also blue. She had never seen any fire bender with blue flames .
Isamu lowered his arm then looked at Katara.
" Surprising right ? Apparently in our family line there used to be a fire bender and I guess I inherited it from her " Isamu said.
" This is so cool . How comes no one in the village knows any of that. I hear people calling you bad things on the village. If you showed them your talent maybe they wouldn't look down on you. " Katara said. Her mentality was still that of a young child in Isamu's eyes so he understood her reasoning but that didn't mean he agreed.
" This is a curse in itself Katara. Everyone is at odds with the fire nation and if anyone learns I can actually bend fire they might see me and my sister as a fire nation spy. I only do this to protect us " Isamu said.
" How about you join us . If people learn you are with the avatar's team they won't look down on you . " Katara said.
Isamu thought for a while.
" I'll think about it . I would really love to get to know you better but unfortunately I am not in very good terms with your brother "
Katara understood this . She could tell from their first interaction. Tau spoke with a lot of venom especially anything involving her brother.
" I understand . To be honest he can be a little too full of himself.... And then there's the thing of him sleeping with women left and right . Sometimes he pisses me off but he is my brother and I can't help but still love him."
" That is the burden of a family . So what would you personally want ? "
" What ?"
" I mean , who would be you ideal sibling . "
" Someone who will be there for me no matter what , a person who we bicker a lot but when it really matters we are always there for each other " Katara said.
" You miss the brother you had before right ?"
Katara nodded.
The two continued to talk until it was time to part ways.
Katara hugged him goodbye which surprised him .
Katara walked back to the gang with a smile. Tau seemed like a good person who was willing to listen to her . She just wished her brother was like that once again.
Isamu on the other hand gave out a devious smule. Katara gave him enough information to understand Sokka's character. He now knew the reincarnator's character.
He was a lustful and lazy person . He only worked hard at times when he knew he would be at war. He also seemed to have a goal but Katara didn't know which.
" It seems listening to the rumblings of this confused teenager was fruitful. " Isamu murmured.
Just then the door opened and Suki entered . She was glistening with sweat from her training but Isamu could tell that she had also been doing other activities with Sokka. Isamu quickly acted annoyed and walked off.
" Wait I need to talk to you Tau "
Her words were ignored as Tau quickly walked to his room . Isamu needed to play the angry sibling as much as possible. This would prove helpful once he ran away.
He sat cross-legged and cultivated the world's chi as time quickly passed.
Satomi and Lyz too focused on their personal strength .
Aang could be seen outside playing with the village children by bending them here and there . Sokka was in his usual position , balls deep inside some lady while Katara sat by the riverside recalling her conversation with Tau .
The sun would soon set on the islanders who would celebrate another successful day
It seemed like a good day for most people but this would become a horror to some when the fire nation attack
