I stood there, dumbfounded for a few moments. My eyes darted between Jessica and her mother, unable to process what had just transpired. To say Jessica's words were flattering would be an understatement. This girl had just declared her crush on me as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"Jessica," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Do you realize what you're saying?"

She tilted her head, confusion evident in her eyes. "I'm just being honest, Enzo. Isn't that what people do?"

Her innocence was both endearing and troubling. It dawned on me that this was the result of a girl without proper memory, a girl who hadn't learned the social norms of her peers. She didn't understand the delicate dance of admitting feelings for another person. Yet here we were again, on this same treacherous road, wondering how to navigate these murky waters.
