The tension from the earlier confrontation with Ethan and Stephanie was still fresh in my mind, but seeing Caspian and Dakari's carefree laughter brought a sense of normalcy back to my day.

Khali joined us briefly, her presence calming and reassuring. She shared a few moments with us, her hand brushing mine as she whispered that she had something planned for later. Before I could press her for details, she winked at me and took the boys out of the room, leaving me with a mixture of curiosity and excitement.
