The honeymoon ended far too soon. Not that she wasn’t happy to be back in her pack, but that morning when River had loaded their bags into the car and drove them back to her village, Ellie couldn’t help but think it had all ended too soon.
He pulled into the driveway outside of her house. She fully expected Shelby and who knows who else to come running over, bombarding her with questions, wanting to look at the bite mark on her neck, but no one was there. A few people had waved at them as they’d driven in. But that was it.
As soon as Ellie walked into her house, she knew that something was different. It was quiet--too quiet. There was an emptiness about it that she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
