Chapter 28 – Relationship?

[Ding! Discover a marriage rune. Do you want to accept it?]

A soft sigh escaped from Jhin's lips as he stared at the notification in front of him.

He had been staring at this same notification for a minute already. And still, couldn't believe what had happened.

The steamy scene from last night keeps on replaying in his mind. The more he tried to erase the images, the more it appeared inside his head.

"Sighs~ How troublesome!"

According to the system, the marriage rune was akin to a wedding ring in his past life. A proof of once marriage. Once accepted, he would become the other party's spouse.

Creating a marriage rune has strict requirements. First, only the female party could cast the spell. Second, a woman could only cast the spell once in her lifetime. Lastly, only through intercourse would the spell be completed.

Clearly, at this moment, Lucy has become his wife! However, thanks to the intervention of the system, the marriage rune hasn't completely merged with his body.

"This is driving me nuts!" Jhin scratched his head in frustration. He couldn't understand why a woman of Lucy's caliber would take him as her husband.

He found it hard to accept! He had just died thanks to a woman yet now… a new one has entered his life again.

"I'm neither attractive nor powerful… yet why?" Jhin couldn't help but question his life. He didn't search for a wife, yet a wife come, and a true beauty at that.

Letting out a deep sigh, Jhin shook his head and decided to ignore the marriage rune for now. If he couldn't speak with Lucy, then it was no use worrying about it. Picking a spouse is a serious matter, it couldn't be decided by just a whim.

Instead of wasting time, pondering about something incomprehensible, Jhin decided to do something else.

He sat up and scanned the room.

Since he could do nothing about the marriage rune for now, he might as well take advantage of the resources present in front of him.

While looking around, he realized that he was sitting on a soft bed made of beast hide. A quilt was wrapped on his body, and he could smell Lucy's intoxicating fragrance from it.

"It is fortunate that the bookshelves weren't ruined."

Thanks to Lucy's outburst last night, half of the room was wrecked. Aside from bookshelves and other instruments at the distance, almost all the instruments near the door were destroyed. Even the stone floor has a small depression.

Wrapping the quilt to his waist, Jhin stood up and started walking towards the shelves.

"Hmm?" He barely took a few steps when he saw a military robe folded at the table nearby. "Did she prepare this robe for me?"

The flames she exuded last night had pulverized his robe. Thus, he no longer has any other clothes. With a wry smile, he took the robe and flipped it.

"How thoughtful of her… Eh? What's this?"

The instant he flipped the robe, a note fell and landed on the ground. Curious, Jhin picked the note and inspected it.

The note was written in a foreign language, and if he wasn't wrong, this language was the main language of the humans in this world. He couldn't understand why. He could understand the words spoken by the people here, yet he found the written language completely incomprehensible.

Fortunately, when his hand touches the note, a system notification rang inside his head.

[Ding! Do you want to translate it?]

"Yes! Translate it." Jhin agreed without hesitation. However, he instantly regretted his decision.

[Deducting one ink drop… Successfully translated, do you want to read it?]

Slapping his forehead in frustration, Jhin couldn't help but complain, "This is robbery!"

Killing a single berserk wolf had only earned him 3-8 ink drops. Yet now, the system deducted him an ink drop just to translate some words.

"I want to read it!"

Jhin felt cheated. Earning an ink drop requires him to kill a creature, yet a simple translation had made him spent his precious ink drop.

Suddenly, a new window popped out in his vision. Various words written in English arranged themselves before forming a sentence.

"Enter the tower of death and find me in the Magician Hall."

"My ink drop…" Jhin felt like crying. He spent an ink drop, just to translate such thing… In the end, he could only sigh, "Truly! Nothing is more problematic than losing the capability to read."

He originally thought that the note contains a crucial information, and it would be bad if he missed it.

Throwing the quilt to the side, Jhin decided that there's no use mourning his setback.

"I should translate those books for now!"

Jhin wore the military robe before walking towards the bookshelves.

The bookshelves were divided into two parts. The first few contains books while the other half had various scrolls.

Picking one of the books, Jhin decided to translate it.

[Ding! Do you want to translate this book?]

"Yes" Jhin nodded hesitantly. He was afraid the system would deduct lots of ink drops. Even so, he doesn't have a choice, the books in front of him might contains information he greatly needed. Moreover, he was just a guest in Lucy's room, when she got back, it would be a question whether she'll let him read the books and the scrolls.

[Deducting one ink drop… Do you want to read it now?]

Jhin let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the system has been kind to him right now. "I want to read it."

[Creating a new window, please wait…]

"Eh? Assimilate? What's that system?" Jhin was surprised.

Jhin felt a piercing sensation inside his head. It was as though his skull was pierced by hundreds of needles.

The pain was excruciating. Jhin couldn't even opened his mouth to groan. Fortunately, the pain only lasted for a less than ten seconds before it vanished.

Jhin widened his eyes. A flood of information was added inside his head. It was as though he had eaten someone's memory fragment.

Greetings! I have been busy stockpiling chapters these past few weeks. Planning and studying how to improve my writing quality. Thus, I could only upload a chapter now.
