Capítulo 29: Raspel

Giselle swifted her hand quickly and the picture formed. Damen was walking to the rail which was three miles away from him. What happened to the meeting? Has he finished already?

"Ooh Marissa! His thoughts don't seem right to me!" Giselle panicked. What?! No he isn't... But he can't die, he's a vampire... Why oh why is he doing this?

"What is he thinking? Tell me!" I exclaimed.

"He's comitting suicide," her eyes grew wide.

"He can't die! He's a vampire," I whispered.

"That doesn't mean he can't die. If a vampire puts his firm intention to death... Well then, he can die and that is what he is doing," she said, with her eyes investigating, as if she's trying to search his mind and thoughts.

"Why does he want to die?" I breathed.

"Poor Damen has done worse in life, all for money. Greed he inherited from his parents, he regrets everything he has done just for money. And then came you, they wanted you dead and had aimed to steal your money, but Damen felt what he was doing was wrong. Marissa, save him. He dies with love for you," she said, gently. Love for me. He loved me. But it took me a moment to believe that, after what he had been doing to me, he was hurting me to stop himself from falling in love but nothing stopped him. He loved me. But I wasn't sure if I loved him. Even though he was my husband.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"You have to pass the Wolan March to get to him. It's the only way," she murmured.

"Quickest way out of here?" I hoped. She snapped her fingers and I found myself standing outside the entrance to the Wolan March. It was alarming to look at. The trees were pure black like coal and just like I had mentioned before, the branches seem to get you and haunting eyes stared back at me with the moon hidden behind the trees, causing some light. And then there was a howl. I broke into a run through the thorny bushes and tried to prevent the tree branches from scratching me. A thorn connected with my face on the run, a cut on my right cheek.

I winced and willed myself to run. Oh please Damen, don't leave me,I thought. I jogged as fast as I could with my dress pulled over my ankles but I still could run fast. I was now four miles away and Damen could've already reached the train rail. Tears prickled my eyes and burned my cheek. Oh, why can't ever anything go right in my life?! Damen please, don't. He can't hear you Giselle's voice popped in my head.

My legs hurt and I wished I had Laura with me. I screamed in pain as someone pulled me from my hair. I came face to face with... That man. He stood in front of me with eyes that glowed of hunger, and mouth watering. No! Not again! My heart beat rapidly against my chest. His lips turned into a cruel smile.

"Where are you headed to little girl? Didn't anyone ever tell you that it's dangerous to be in the forest at night?" he hissed. My lips trembled. He was going to bite me just like he had before.

"Let go of the lady, mate!" shouted a voice behind me. I was surprised. Aron and Jackson! My heroes. They charged their horses with their swords aiming at the man.

"Not a very nice introduction. I am Raspel. Your brother-in-law" said the man. My brother-in-law? No. He then could've been the husband of Glace's dead sister and if he was the husband of her sister then... He wants me dead too.

"I ask you to release the lady," Aron said in a low voice. Raspel pushed me to a tree and broke into a run. Even if he was a vampire, he wasn't fast. Probably the lack of blood. Jackson jumped of his horse and ran after Raspel. Aron knelt next to me and helped me get to my feet. His arm protectively went behind my waist and I heard a shrilling cry. Jackson had killed Rapsel. Aron let me watch no more of this.

"Mistress, are you alright?" Aron asked. I nodded and gave a shaky smile.

"You two are amazing. You saved me," I exclaimed.

"It was nothing Mistress, it's our job. We couldn't lose you and if we did-" Jackson rubbed his neck and continued, "-your father would have a new sculpture for his living room,"

We all laughed.

"What are you two doing here anyway and how did you know I was in trouble?"

"Sir Damen was to come for a meeting today but he never showed up so your father sent us to look for him to see if he alright and why he couldn't make it. On our way Jackson saw you pass the Wolan March so we followed you to see where your going to. And then with Raspel and you know the rest," Aron grinned.

"Why were you passing the Wolan March anyway?" Jackson narrowed his eyes at me.

"I know where Damen is! He's going to kill himself!" I exclaimed.

"I will find him and Aron will departure you to the Enigmars house," said Jackson.

"No I'll go. I want someones horse first," I said.

"Take mine, I'll go with Jackson and what are we to say to your father?!" asked Aron.

"Tell him you saw Marissa and she said to give my love to everyone," my voice cracked on the remembrance of my family.

"We will," Jackson smiled. Aron and Jackson had left with their horse and I was left with this one. The horse had brown eyes and black skin. I struggled to sit over his back. After I sat, the horse sprinted forward. Damen please stop, I prayed. It galloped faster and faster with every single step on the ground. I saw clear grass glow on the sight of moon just a few feet away. We had survived the Wolan March. Damen! I saw him!

"Damen! Stop!" I yelled. But he didn't. He had now walked to the rail and stood there, staring at the moon, deep in thought. The train. Oh no! The train was running fast on the rail but it was far away from where Damen stood like an idiot. It was three hills away. One hill it passed. I jumped of the horse and ran as fast as I could.

"Damen! Get off the track!" I yelled. But he just ignored me. I ran harder but the ground seemed to slower me and then everything was back to normal. The second hill passed I was just a few feet away from Damen. Third hill... I caught him by the back of his shirt and pulled him back with all my power, just as the light of the train flashed at us. I fell next to Damen.

"Let me go! You are- Marissa?" his voice faltered. I was angry with him. I got him by the collar of his shirt and brought him face to face with me.

"Didn't you hear me?! Damen you are an idiot!" I shouted. Tears slid on my face. I loved him. I loved him for his love for me but killing himself was not what I called 'proving love'. Damen gently wiped my tears and I let go of his collar. He closed his eyes to kiss me and as much as I agreed to this point, I couldn't so I leaned back which surprised him.

"We need to talk," I swallowed. I was thirsty, my dress was ripped, my hair was a mess.

"Raspel," I said. He stared at me for a long time.

"My aunts husband. What about him?" he said, finally. I glared at him.

"You know everything!" I screamed. This time I got an evil look from him that made me lower my voice.

"Your mother wants me dead, true or not?" I asked. He looked at me for a minute.

"True," he said simply.

"Do you also know why?" he asked.

"My family killed your aunt, your mother promised revenge. True or not?" I whispered.

"Where is this all coming from?" his eyes widened.

"I figured it out," I stammered. I had to lie. I'm sure Giselle wouldn't be happy about anyone knowing about her secret.

His hand clasped my neck and and pulled me close to his face. My lips quivered. I let my body take control. My arms linked behind his neck and I kissed him. I loved him. No matter what he had done to me. His hand pressed on my back, keeping me close.

"You're a vampire," I said between our kiss.

"I am," he kissed me.
