Capítulo 12: Organizing Packages as a Job

"I'm fine with a job that's just for organizing. I don't mind." Ye Delun told MingMing. He had a part-time job before he came here. He would work at the library organizing the books. He thought it was boring and he easily got tired of it, but the librarian would sometimes let him slack off during work. He would stay in the thriller section constantly throughout those times.

"Alright!" MingMing grabbed onto his forearm. "MingMing will lead you as your guide to the perfect job just meant for you!" She tugged him along, past the crowd and along the pathway. Ye Delun could feel the bricked ground beneath his feet. It was surprisingly clean despite a large number of people consuming food. "Oh, uh, okay." He said back to the puppet. He was a little shy at the touch and a little bit of his ear turned pink. Although his facial expression stayed its usual blank slate.

MingMing brought him towards a normal-looking building. Compared to the structures around it, it looked relatively normal. Instead of walking through the front door, MingMing brought him towards the alleyway at the side. Ye Delun looked at the unusually pristine walls. They had several pamphlets covering the wall. They all looked like job opportunities.

MingMing took one look at the wall of papers before turning back towards him. "Come, rip this one off." She said. She gestured towards a ticket on the bottom of one of the papers. A little 'take one' was written on it. "Okay." He ripped off one of them and held it in his hand. A message from the system appeared in front of him.

[Would you like to accept the job 'package organizer'?]

[Yes] [No]

Without thinking, he chose yes. The wind surrounding him blew slightly and little sparkles came out of nowhere.

[Congratulations on acquiring the job 'package organizer'! Please follow guidelines towards your work area!]

Again, a familiar pink path appeared in front of him. It didn't lead far, just to the front entrance of the building. He walked a couple of steps before realizing that MingMing wasn't following him. He turned back around and called out to her. "Are you not coming?"

She gave him one of her signature smiles. "MingMing has guided the player 'Ye Delun' to his destination. MingMing's errand is complete. If you need any help, make sure to come and find MingMing!" And then she floated silently in the same position. Her black eyes seemed to die and the light refused to reflect in them and her wide smile reversed back to its normal puppet-like look. Ye Delun continued to stare at her for a little longer before he called out to her.

"MingMing." He said.

Her eyes came back to life and her face turned to look him in the eyes. "Hello, Ye Delun! Is there something MingMing can help you with?"

Ye Delun's face looked a little impressed. "No, thank you."

"MingMing is always willing to help! If you need anything, make sure to ask MingMing!" She said, her face going back its dull look.

Ye Delun was very happy with MingMing. 'Such an interesting NPC...' He thought as he walked back out of the alleyway and left the puppet fairy NPC all to herself.

Ye Delun pushed open the front door of the plain building. The sound of a bell resonated throughout the room. He looked at the dangling bell with an interesting look in his eyes. He thought it was weird how everything looked so futuristic and yet they stilled used something so old-fashioned.

"Are you here for the job opportunity?" A scruffy voice asked him. He turned and for the first time of the night, saw a man. His mouth opened slightly at the sight of him. A man, around his thirties, with a shabby amount of facial hair spoke to him. He looked at Ye Delun with tired steel eyes and a good amount of eye bags. Ye Delun was fascinated with the look of the man. From his tall, bulky stature and tan skin. To the large amount of scars littering his exposed arms.

'So manly.' He thought. A small "wow" passed through his lips without him even knowing.

"Hey. Are you there, kid?" The man called out to him. "I asked if you're here for the job."

Ye Delun snapped himself out of his daydream. "Oh, yeah, I'm here for the job. The one about organizing packages?" He held the little slip of paper out in the open for the man to see.

He moved closer to the wood counter and got a better look at the man. His shaggy hair looked like it was trimmed with a knife and was in no way stylish. Not that Ye Delun would know what was fashionable or not. But besides that, the guy in front of him was pulling it off quite nicely.

The guy gave him a slow glance. Ye Delun thought that he must be exhausted for him to have such deep bags under his eyes. "Name?" The man asked.

"Ye Delun." He simply answered. He was staring impolitely at the man's bicep that was revealed with his black tank top. He was awed by the manly scars that adorned his skin. They stood out from the tanned bronze that covered him.

"Hey." The man snapped his fingers in front of Ye Delun's face. He moved his two fingers to point towards his pair of metallic orbs. "Eyes up here, girly."

"..." Ye Delun silently looked the man in the eye. He wouldn't admit it, but that comment affected him a little. "I'm a man." He said, his neutral face covered up anything he was thinking. The guy only raised his eyebrow in doubt and took another good look at Ye Delun.

A young kid, who looked awfully childish for their age. Long eyelashes and shining black eyes. Messy dark hair that looked like it needed a good brushing. And they were wearing a blanket as clothing. The man didn't exactly have a good impression of the person. But it's not like it would be the first time he's seen a strangely dressed person walk into his shop. In fact, the only people who ever walked in this place of his were people that were dressed weirdly.

Seeing the doubt in the man's eyes, Ye Delun didn't mind removing the blanket from his body to reveal his gender. 'We're both men here.' He thought. The man looked at the skinny guy in front of him with a blank look before rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Whatever, put your clothes back on." He paused as he realized his choice of wording. He looked back at Ye Delun who didn't make any movement indicating he would wrap the cloth back around him. Instead, the young boy looked at him with a blank face. "...I mean wrap the blanket back on." He exhaustedly spoke to the young man.
