He pulled his spear free and patted Jet on the head.
"Good job, buddy. Let's find more."
They continued their hunt, the air growing colder and the shadows lengthening.
Ravan kept up a steady stream of muttering.
"Can't we find a food court or something?"
The second monster they encountered was a large, serpentine creature with glistening scales and venomous fangs.
It was coiled around a tree, waiting for prey.
"This will be tough," Ravan said, gripping his spear tighter.
Jet twitched his nose again and then hopped forward.

The serpent hissed and struck out, but Ravan was faster.
He sidestepped the attack and drove the spear into its eye.
The creature thrashed in agony, its tail lashing out and knocking Ravan to the ground.
Ravan scrambled to get up, grabbing his spear again and driving it into the serpent's head, finally bringing it down.
