90.9% The Ghost Girl / Chapter 10: Daniel

Capítulo 10: Daniel

In the kitchen, I sat at the large dining table and looked at my mother.

Mrs. Santos, even with her employees who could do anything for her, continued to do things in her own way around the house.

Cooking was one of his Hobbes. But she cooked a lot more when she was stressed. The disappearance of my brother was affecting my mother a lot.

"Your brother is dead!" The girl's voice was loud again in my ear. My heart ached. I did not want to believe it but something told me that the girl was not lying to me. I trusted her.

The necklace in my pocket got hot. I took it in my hands and looked well at the multi colored stone. Protection. She said it would protect me.

What did it mean to get hot like that? Some ghost was around? I asked myself, squeezing the stone and sighing. Maybe my brother? I hoped so.

The pots made a loud noise as they fell spreading flour to the cheese dough, on the floor.

Looking at my mother I realized that I would have to do this. I would have to hurt her. I would have to tell him that my brother was dead. I did not want to do that.

I got up and went to help clean the floor. Our hands touched and she sniffled her tears streaming down her face in a silent cry. Seeing my mother crying hurt me. I did not want her to cry. He did not want her to suffer. All I wanted for my mother was for her to be happy.

_ I discovered something about my brother_ I counted carefully.

She looked at me hopefully. Is he okay? Did he say where he is?

I shook my head sadly.

"I met a girl yesterday. She knew him.

_ A friend? _ She looked at me without understanding_ He was with a friend all this time?

No, she was a special person.

_ Special how?

_ She said she can see ghost ...

"That's ridiculous," she interrupted. "She sure was fooling you.

_ No, she did not lie. I saw something. Something I can not explain.

Mine dried her tears. Now she was getting irritated.

"That sort of thing does not exist. And even if it existed this is not our concern, right?

She took off the apron she wore and threw it on the counter.

"She said she saw my brother's spirit.

The silence that followed my revelation was deafening. She looked at me angrily, but there was fear in her eyes.

"She said your brother is dead?"

I did not answer. My silence was more than enough.

_ What did she say to you? _ Agitated she started to walk _ She said that her brother died and you believed?

_ It's not that simple ...

"Of course," she interrupted me angrily. His tears ran down again. How can you believe that? Your brother is well. He'll get in touch and everything will be fine. He's coming back to us.

_ He will not go! Mom_ I held her by the arms when she tried to run away.

_ Not....

_ Mom! He is dead.

She lost her strength in her legs and I held her as she cried in my arms. Without realizing my tears also fell and I let mourning for my brother.

We kept crying in each other's arms but at some point it was my mother holding me. Comforting me

"How do you know what this girl says is true?" She asked me softly.

His voice made me look at his face. Despite being in pain, my mother was a strong woman. She would mourn for her son but will also find out everything about what happened to him. One way or another.

"She told me something that only my brother and I could know. She said he did not remember who it was.

_ Where did you find it? Did she look for you?

No. We met at the hospital. I went to my brother's office yesterday. I tried to find something that could tell me where he is. But instead I met her.

"She asked you for money?"

I blinked at this idea. This totally caught me by surprise. That girl did not look like she wanted to ask for money.

But on second thought this was her job, right? "Paranormal Office". She worked with spirit. She earned it.

"She did not ask me for any money."

"So what does she want?"

_ I do not know!

In silence my mother stood up. She looked around thoughtfully, then looked at me decisively.

_ I want to meet you.

I was expecting it in a way. I was sure my mother would want to talk to her. But I did not expect it to be that fast.

Again I felt the necklace she gave me warm. I took it as a sign and stood up.

_ I take the lady to her.

My mother shook my head dismissively.

"I do not need you to take me." Just tell me where it's at.

I did not want her to go alone, so I insisted.

"If you do not want me to go, at least take Daddy with you."

She started to walk out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the second floor. I followed her.

_ It is not necessary. I can do it myself.

"Mother," we stopped at the door of her room. She looked at me irritably.

Just tell me the address, Daniel and then go to work. You have an important contract to close right?

I made a face remembering.

Dad can handle this for a while.

"You're not going to work and do not say anything to your father." I'll talk to him later.

Feeling excused Daniel left leaving his mother alone.

Patrícia Santos was a strong and determined woman and as soon as she was alone began to prepare.

First of all she had to find out who the woman who spoke to her son was in the hospital so she called her lawyer and put him on the case. In a few hours she would get a complete dossier on the woman who said her son was dead.

But once his heart clenched and his eyes filled with unshed tears.

She did not want to believe it, she could not. Your son, your baby was dead? She could not believe it. Not in your head but in your heart? She already knew the truth. Even though she was a strong woman, Patricia could not bear to cry herself by looking at a picture of her children at the head of her bed.

Two hours later his lawyer arrived. Patrícia Santos was already recovered and had the address ready. She just had to know who she was going to talk to. The information about Sabrina was just ridiculous. The ability to see ghosts.

Stories told to make children sleep, Patricia could not believe what she was reading. She worked alongside the police and was respected. People knew her and looked for her, for her services.

And that only made Patricia feel more irritable and suspicious. She did not know what to expect when she arrived and talked face to face with this ... crook but she would not let that woman step on her mourning.

Her son believed her, she thought bitterly. She made him believe. Even if it were true, if she really were right, if everything that was written in those documents really was true. Your son, your baby ...

She did not want to believe it. What mother would want something like this?!?!

Sabrina's photo falls on the bed. In the photo she was standing at the entrance of a cafe. In one hand she drank one cup of coffee and the other she offered to someone whose image did not appear in the photo.

After taking a deep breath and calm down, she decided to prepare to leave and face this woman who said that her son was dead.
