Esme was thrown through the fire exit doors at the top of the building. She skidded across the dirty ground, scraping her elbows and burnt hand, but she flipped back and landed on her feet. She watched as Ethan walked through the doors onto the rooftop terrace like he owned the place, but the fire in his eyes seemed to scorch more than the fire chasing after them. Esme knew their chances of survival were low.
Wherever they were had to be a pretty shitty place. No fire engines were on their way, and although the fire seemed to grow exponentially, the fire brigade would have arrived by now. Ethan and Camilla did well choosing a place that would not interfere with their plans. But this was the negative side to it all.
They didn't anticipate anything going wrong.
