Capítulo 10: Pre season (3)

Percy was in his peek-a-boo fighting stance while Charles took a traditional boxing stance with his left hand being his lead.

As soon as the bell rang Percy hurriedly shuffled to his opponent head-on.

When he was just over a meter close Charles shot 2 jabs in quick succession at the freshman's head and took a step back.

"Shi, shi"

Percy successfully guarded against the headshots using his both arms whilst being slightly pushed back.

Since the first year was pushed back, Charles took this as an opportunity to apply a bit more pressure. He threw a straight at the youth's guard, in an attempt to weave the whole attack Percy ducked and shuffled to the left.

Unfortunately for the first year, he timed his dodge slightly off, and the edge of his right arm took the full force of the attack.

The pain throbbed faintly through his whole limb.

'Fuck, I was careless.' Percy groaned softly.

Charles took a few steps backward to further the distance once again and he smiled arrogantly at his opponent revealing the white mouth guard he was wearing.

"C'mon don't bore me."

Percy knitted his eyebrows, not because of the taunt but because of the pain in his arm.

"Nrgh..."

Percy took a few steps forward making sure to not leave any openings in his stance.

'I must be careful.'

When he was in range, Percy threw a jab at his opponent's face, meant to distract his guard and momentarily blind him.

"Su"

Using his lead hand Charles quickly parried the attack without showing signs of struggle.

With the extra second, the jab gave Percy enough time to prepare a cross.

(Cross is straight.)

While the cross perforated through the air towards his face, Charles watched it and reacted quickly. He made sure to guard his face as tightly as he could to make sure the attack couldn't penetrate through.

As soon as the attack was guarded successfully, Percy threw an uppercut using his lead hand to try to catch him off guard, but Charles disappointingly sidestepped him.

"Too easy!" he chuckled.

When he tried to gain some breathing space by taking a step back, Percy rushed towards him once again closing the distance.

The infighter tried to use a jab towards his opponent's abdomen when he was stopped abruptly by the out-fighter's jab to the head which caused his whole world to spin.

"Shi!"

Just as he staggered backward trying to regain his sense of balance and direction, Charles used the moment to throw straight at his head.

Noticing that his opponent stopped moving backward and took a step forward instead, Percy predicted that he would use a rear hook and held his guard up.

'Fuck!'

"Chi!"

The cross connected to his guard and the shock was distributed unevenly.

"Ah!"

'I was wrong?!'

His right arm once again began throbbing this time much more aggressively.

To try and finish his opponent Charles took a step in to prepare his knockout punch.

'I'll lose at this rate.' Percy saw Charles prepare his left hand and decided to also step in.

'If this fails, I lose.'

The two were insanely close, but Percy was too disoriented and stunned so he couldn't engage in a close-quarters battle to the best of his ability.

Instead of trying to engage in infighting, Percy clinched his opponent to prevent him from throwing the lead hook he was preparing.

"What a dirty trick." Charles scoffed in a disgusted tone.

The referee separated the two and told Percy not to do it again, and that he'd be disqualified if he did another illegal move.

'I can't let this get to the decision; I have to knock him out.'

"I'll make you pay for what you just pulled, Boy-Wonder."

After a few seconds, the two were both back at their corners preparing to restart.

Still, in the same stance he rushed in cautiously, repeating their first encounter: Charles threw a jab but this time he only threw one.

"Shi"

'This time I'll dodge it.'

Percy slipped the attack swiftly and took a step closer, preparing to throw an uppercut with his left hand.

When he arrived at the ideal spot to throw his attack, a large black glove was quickly approaching his face at a petrifying speed.

"Die!"

Charles had thrown a hook using his rear hand anticipating that the youth would dodge instead of block.'

'After receiving that much damage from our first encounter, there's no way you'd try to block. YOU'RE SCARED BOY WONDER!' He inwardly laughed.

Because he had already committed to the uppercut, he wasn't able to stop it abruptly and block, or dodge; so he decided to both receive the devastating attack and throw a powerful one of his own.

'It's up to who lands it first.' He thought as he pushed his fist upwardly towards Charles's jaw.

The first attack to connect was Percy's, but there was an issue because of his stance Charles's hand naturally was right by his chin so using his reaction speed he moved his left hand downwards to reduce the impact of the attack.

Although the force the uppercut generated would knock him out under normal circumstances, Charles's hand reduced it just enough to keep his conscience.

Just as Percy was about to be glad that he landed his attack first and by the connection, he thought Charles's hook would be stopped, he felt the force of a train strike him on his cheek.

"DAMM-"

The pain reverberated through his whole skull, and he staggered back wildly like a drunkard struggling to stay awake.

'What the hell was that?'

Although he was fading in and out of consciousness his opponent Charles wasn't doing much better, he was hanging on the ropes with a busted lip and blood dripping onto the white canvas.

After the ringing in his head stopped Percy finally stood up straight and got back into his fighting stance but this time, he looked like he could be pushed over by a toddler.

Charles also got off the ropes and swallowed all the blood in his mouth.

"You bastard."

The only thing that prevented the fighters from suffering permanent damage was the headgear they both adorned.

With both of them looking incredibly shaky and 1 minute left on the clock everyone looked at the entertaining amateur bout happening in the welterweight ring.

People began cheering for the fighters they thought would win and students cheered even louder for those in the same schools as them.

Percy once again shuffled towards Charles but this time at a slightly slower speed.

'My arm is killing me.'

Charles threw a jab at the youth's vulnerable left arm, which he previously injured.

Percy slipped it, towards the left like before but didn't go for an uppercut because Charles threw his own uppercut as soon as his fist returned.

The first year responded by weaving to the right and throwing a nasty right hook at his body.

Due to the fact, it was Percy's weak arm, the attack was, unfortunately, slower and less powerful, but it was still not to be underestimated.

Using his left arm, he panickily blocked the attack on his body.

CRACK!

'Not enough. I have to knock him out!'

The punch fractured the 2nd year's arm, and an excruciating pain went through his whole body.

"Tch!"

Before the referee could even think to jump in to stop the fight Percy threw another destructive body hook in the same spot.

CRACK!

The damage became more prominent, and it was obvious the 2nd year's arm was broken at this point.

'Still.' The youth was still unsatisfied with his performance and took out more of his frustration on his opponent.

"P-please Stop!" Charles held his left arm as his words barely escaped his mouth.

When he saw what Percy was about to do, his soul almost left his body.

Charles was now on the ropes, trying to find a way out of this flurry of attacks.

Percy threw a cross from a short distance right into his gut, and the 2nd year began foaming at the mouth.

"Plea-"

'No this isn't it...' Percy ignored his cries for help and continued his brutality.

The referee finally realized that what was happening wasn't merely an amateur dominating another, but pure bullying.

When Percy was about to start a new combo with a jab, he felt a strong tug on his lead hand from behind.

In an instant, he landed on the canvas after the referee forcibly pulled him with an impressive display of strength.

"Anymore and you'll be disqualified." He said to Percy solemnly.

Percy glared back at the referee as he found himself on his back lying on the bloody white canvas.

'What the hell is wrong with this kid, was he trying to cripple him or something?'

"No need to go any further, you win..."
