Capítulo 1: Prologue

"What the…!" Shouted Ji Feng as he hit the floor with a clear thud, barely missing the flipped wooden chair lying at his side. He reached for his neck with both hands after feeling something constricting it. "What…is...this?!"

On his neck, there was a tightly tied up rope making it difficult to breathe. He quickly removed the rope and desperately gasped for air while looking at his surroundings.

"Where is this…?" Ji Feng found himself in an unfamiliar apartment. His eyes wandered around the completely normal living room filled with unremarkable furniture. A simple see-through glass table stood in the middle, with a big gray couch in front of it, and two smaller couches in both sides. There was only one word to describe the interior of this apartment, and that was "plain".

The only thing that stood out in the living room was a really big plasma TV hung up on the wall in front of the table, so that it could be watched comfortably from the biggest couch. Being transmitted on the TV was some sort of silly food commercial which Ji Feng was not familiar with.

"How did I end up here?" Ji Feng wondered. His gaze came to a stop at the flipped chair on the floor with the remains of the rope that strangled his neck just a few moments ago on top of it. 'Okay, maybe this is not what it looks like…' His eyes turned upwards very slowly, finding the other end of a severed rope dangling down a chandelier. '…It's exactly what it looks like.' This situation resembled a suicide case like the ones in those police dramas Ji Feng used to see with his parents when he was younger.

"I don't remember hanging myself…did someone try to hang me?!" But that would not be likely. What sort of idiot would try to kill someone and then leave the victim right there without checking if it's truly dead? "Anyway, that's one sturdy chandelier…"

Ji Feng looked away from the chandelier and checked out his body to see if he could find any abnormalities.

'I don't know of anyone who could have such a big grudge towards me that they would want to kill me by hanging…' Well, that clerk at the convenience store was kind of evil, but he was a jerk, not a serial killer, he supposed.

"Wait…how did I arrive here in the first place? The last thing I remember was flying towards the Jiangnam province in a plane to visit my parents during the Chinese New Year." Looking pensive, Ji Feng tried to remember the events that led to him trying to hang himself in someone else's home.

Suddenly, it struck him like a lightning bolt. His mind was filled with the memory of people screaming and jumping from their seats. The fly attendant trying to futilely calm down the growing mass of chaos as the lights went out inside the plane's cabin. Ji Feng remembered the despair he felt as the flying vehicle accelerated on a lethal course towards the ground.

He felt a sharp pain in his head as if someone just pierced it with a hot needle. His hands trembled and his breath quickened. His legs gave away, making him collapse on all fours.

"This can't be…I died?" With a hand on his forehead, Ji Feng tried to appease the killing headache he was feeling at the moment, but the throbbing pain made clear that it wasn't going away any soon. "But then, where the fuck am I?!"

Feeling desperate, Ji Feng checked over his body again, trying to find any injury that could evidence a close encounter with death by falling from the sky. Finding none, he crawled towards the table, which seemed sturdy enough to work as a support for him to stand up. With both hands on top of the edge of the table, Ji Feng pulled himself up, but his body still felt cold at the thought of the strange situation he was in. He closed his eyes and took in a deep mouthful of air to get back his bearings.

With his left hand strongly clutching his chest on top of his fast beating heart, Ji Feng exhaled deeply. He opened his eyes, and although they still reflected fear and apprehension, there also existed a certain resolution. 'Doesn't matter. First, I must…'

His thoughts came to an abrupt stop, and this time his body didn't react at the impossible sight in front of him. Surviving a plane crash without any injuries, being kidnaped after said plane crash, and then being hanged soon after by some phycho? Although farfetched, it was still between the realms of possibility. But this…what is this?!

His eyes, reflected on the surface of the glass-table, were open like saucers, and his mouth was wide open in disbelief. Ji Feng's face was the literal representation of confusion, but it couldn't be helped, because the face reflected on the mirroring surface was not his face. Or at least, it was not the face he used to have.

"This…this…how can this be? Did I transmigrate? Am I a frigging reincarnator?!" His heart, which was beating pretty fast already, started to accelerate before this sudden turn of events. Ji Feng's head turned dizzy and then felt the sudden necessity to take a nap.

'Maybe…maybe this is not that bad…I mean…this place looks really modern. Somewhat plain to my taste yes, but at least I didn't transmigrate to some violent world filled with crazy over-powered people and murderous creatures…' Ji Feng relaxed at little after thinking about his situation, and after having realized that it wasn't so bad, he started to laugh.

Maybe this new life of his could be more interesting! This new body is at least ten years younger than his old one, maybe he could even return to college and chase some skirts again! Hahaha!

"In latest news…" The voice of a female locator interrupted Ji Feng's laughter, who stared a little annoyed at the TV's screen. "There was an unexpected Shadow Beast outbreak at the outskirts of Steel Fort City. Until now, three towns under the jurisdiction of said city have been confirmed to have fallen. The death count has already surpassed the six digits, and is raising by the minute. The Evolver Association's branch of Steel Fort City has already dispatched a team of Neo-Humans to deal with the shadow threat…"

As the woman on the screen kept talking about the current state of events, Ji Feng stared in despair at the footage being displayed. Burning buildings, people running and screaming, trying to escape from the terrible maws of terrible black creatures… and failing miserably to do so. Another footage showed a woman wearing a strange suit like that of a superhero, punching a new hole through one of those black creatures.

The more Ji Feng saw on the TV, the more his newfound dreams of a happy youth shattered. His eyes began to turn heavy, and the last thought he had before falling into unconsciousness was…

'Fuck.'

REFLEXIONES DE LOS CREADORES
Silbelphegor Silbelphegor

Hey there! I'm new to writing, but I had this idea from some time ago and decided to try it out on this platform.

This is just a prologue, and I won't be updating new chapters for at least 2 or 3 weeks. I still need more time to write.

Please pardon me if there are some(or a lot) orthographic horrors, but english is not my first language (though I think I did quite good considering that fact).

Leave your comments and make your reviews, so that the god of EXP can bless you forever :)
