The war is in its final stages.
For us who know war we can feel it the air. The final mobilizations are happening. Rhaegar returned to Kings Landing and promised his father an end to this war. I don't know how but he managed to convince the dornish to send 20000 spears to aid him in this battle.
Aerys was pleased with this turnaround from his vassals and surprisingly agreed to allow Princess Elia and Prince Aegon passage to Dorne as the marched their armies marched on.
The Velaryon fleet, the royal fleet and I were tasked with the protection of Dragonstone.I had thought that Rhaegar will call me to join his crusade but it looks like the young prince has plans I am not privy to.
After an hour of patrolling the waters, I dismounted from my ship and headed inside Dragonstone to break my fast. Rhaella was in the solar of the keep. She was different now.
More sombre, grief stricken all in all very depressed. Wearing dresses that covered her neck and all parts of her body. Sometimes I notice her flinching in the presence of men.
Win or lose this war. Aerys will die.
'My queen, you are pregnant for some moons now. You should rest and take care of yourself more.'
She looked up from the documents she was handling and saw who spoke. A soft smile crossed her face before disappearing,
'Lucas. It's you and for the last time stop treating me like I am made of glass.'
'Then stronger glass I have never seen my grace but you are working too hard. I know times are tough but you should spend more time with Viserys and Rhaenys. They really need guidance.'
'You still speak so freely to me even after all these years. But I need this… I need to not think or feel if not… it would all come crashing down.'
'I can't pretend to understand how you feel, your grace but I want you to get better and if I can help I will like how I can help as a steward for you for a while.'
'You will assist me with these letters?'
'Of course. Let me take off my armor first. It seems we will be here for a while.'
'sigh* Tell the kitchen to send food up here for us on your way.'
I descended down to the kitchens where many a maid were preparing breakfast for the royals.
'Yo, Jessamyn.' I said to the Head Maid incharge of the kitchen. A think brown haired woman with brown eyes and a kind smile. She is one of the people I keep close contact with while I am here.
'Mi'lord?'
'The queen and I would be busy and won't be joining the others for their breaking of fast. Can you please preserve our food for later.'
'Of course mi'lord. Right away. You heard him people!'
With that I ascended the stairs to my room. Dragonstone is a dreary place. The walls are as dark as its name. The countless structures that adorne the castle gives you the feeling of being watched and your are not alone.
Not really pleasant.
I removed my armor and but on some informal wear but I still carried my sword and a dagger incase they become needed and headed back to the solar where Rhaella and I spent most of the day going through letters from all over the realm, some complaints and petitions from Dragonstone itself.
We were even visited by the little beasts Rhaenys and Viserys who came to see the matriarch of their family and little Rhae's nuncle.
After a long day we were finally finished and decided to just rest abit before going to break our fast. A few minutes later a raven came in.
Dark wings, Dark words.
Rhaella unfurled the letter and after a few minutes she started crying. Shaking profusely. What was said that she reacted this way?
I picked up the letter and went through it.
My queen,
The battle is lost.
I tried my best to protect my prince but in the end I failed. We had the advantage and many amongst us wanted the rebels to cross the ford and come to us but alas the Prince wanted us to charge them.
We lost our number advantage as the battle quickly turned into a huge skirmish. The Dornish tore through their left flank and gave battle to the Vale knights.
The Crownlands and the Northmen and Stormlanders gave each other battle. Jonothor Darry killed Lord Corbray but was later slain by Ser Lyn Corbray who took up his father's sword.
Eddard Stark and William Dustin cut a bloody path through our men allowing space for Robert Baratheon and Prince Rhaegar to meet on the banks of the now named Ruby Ford.
Jeremy Rykker killed Jon Arryn and Ser Barristan injured Hoster Tully before he engaged in battle with the Blackfish.
By this time both armies are dwindling fast and the usurper and the prince dueled each other with Prince Rhaegar in an act of ferocity took of Robery Baratheon's sword arm but was dazed when he punched him with his left allowing tge usurper to pick up his hammer with one hand and strike him down killing him.
The war is over, my lady. Our armies scattered back to their keeps and lands to fortify their hold.I implore you to flee it is said that the Lannisters have started mobilizing. Take the prince and princess and flee to Essos.
For the hatred the man has for the house of the dragon is deep and would not give any mercy. Escape and plan a restoration. Know that House Mooton always stands with you.
From, Ser Myles Mooton.
Yikes it's over.
'My queen we have to move. I'll begin preparations tonight to escape by dawn tomorrow would that be okay?'
She rose her haid with eyes red and tears still coming down she nodded her head and put it on the table so I won't see her crying.
The king is dead Long live the King I guess.
