"Why did you marry Adam Crowell? And what do you feel about him?"

Luca's lips parted, but her tongue rolled back. Reluctance peeked into her eyes, unable to give a quick answer to Jacques. The first question was simple, but the latter? Luca didn't know what sort of answer to give her. The honest one? Or the one she practiced?

Jacques let out a brief chuckle. "You don't know?"

"No. It's nothing like that." Luca let out a deep exhale, assuming this was Jacques's way to distract herself. She didn't mind, though. Honestly, she wanted to share something with Jacques or with others who might understand her heart.

"I never judged," said Jacques with a subtle smile. "Tell me. What makes you hesitate?"

Luca cleared her throat, taking this chance to get something out of her chest.
