Jaxon chuckled, a low, mocking sound. "That's the Ember I fell in love with," he said, his eyes gleaming with a soft light, it was as if i was seeing the man I used to love. "Bold, strong-headed, wanting to catch up to her goals...but when we got here, you changed. And Aurora came in. I became tempted, and she just...she just suits me better. She suits me in being a princess. You...you don't."

I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes as tears began to form. I tried to blink them back, but they refused to be contained.

"I do care for you, Ember," Jaxon continued, "I do love you, but it wasn't the same. My love for Aurora was higher. So I told everyone we broke up, and your family wanted me to marry Aurora instead, and I did. And my people, they love her. She is the perfect princess. And you...you just lie on her head. You talked terrible things that I have never seen her do before."
