The cold darkness was everywhere, she could feel it deep within her blood and spreading into her soul as if it was drowning her into an absolute nothingness.
It was like a crippling raw terror that overwhelmed her heart.
And through that nightmarish haze, she heard distant sounds.
Familiar.
Unknown.
Strange.
"Don't worry, things will be okay."

"What if that never happens?"
"It always does."
The voices whispered in her mind.
Childish.
She concluded.
But they didn't matter, nothing mattered.
All she knew was that sleep was much more tempting than anything that waited outside. There was a strong desire to simply forget everything, to have one long peaceful sleep.
And to just… stop existing.
It was frightening.
Comforting.
