Capítulo 232: Chapter 232: The Galleon Path

The Wizard Cards Club announced that it would hold its first Wizard Cards competition, but the news did not cause much of a stir at Hogwarts. After all, it was just an internal event of the club.

When the announcement appeared on the notice boards of the different houses, the Hogwarts students were initially curious, but that was about it. Many people were interested in the competition, but not many actually signed up. Most of them were still watching from the sidelines. Moreover, the announcement of the trip to Hogsmeade at the end of November attracted more attention.

"How many people have signed up for the Wizard Cards competition?" George curiously approached Lee Jordan, looking at the registration list he was holding. He was curious to know how many people were planning to participate in the competition.

"There are only four people from Gryffindor so far," Lee Jordan replied helplessly, glancing at Albert and asking, "What if we can't find sixteen players?"

"It's not a big deal; it's just a club event after all," Albert didn't pay much attention to the competition.

He did see great potential in Wizard Cards, but it was still in its early stages, and Albert had mentally prepared himself for the worst. Even if only three people participated in the competition, at least the top three positions could be filled among them. As for him and his friends, they wouldn't be participating, as they wanted to enjoy the event.

"But what if no one signs up?" Fred suddenly asked.

"We four can participate," Albert pointed to the four of them, smiling and reassuring, "I'll set up a consolation prize as well."

"The consolation prize will definitely belong to George," Lee Jordan joked, as he was the worst at playing Wizard Cards among them.

Maybe he had cared too much about the outcome?

The game itself was meant to bring fun.

Perhaps Albert wasn't really expecting the Wizard Cards Club's event to be grand. Some things needed time to develop properly.

"By the way, are we still going to the neighboring place at the end of the month?" Fred asked while sorting his Wizard Cards, raising his head to look at Albert and asking in a low voice.

"Of course, why not?" Albert knew that "the neighboring place" referred to Hogsmeade. "I have an appointment with Mr. Daggworth. Hopefully, I'll be able to learn how to brew the potion from him. However, it seems that the brewing process is more difficult than I expected."

"If you succeed, remember to make some for me to try. Maybe it will make my brain more agile."

"You finally admit that you're a blockhead."

Fred asked with a weird expression, "Are you saying that Albert is a blockhead too?"

"If it really works, I won't need to memorize those annoying theories all the time, and I won't have to put so much effort into homework," Lee Jordan also showed great interest in the Bathilda's Brain Elixir. Anyone would be interested in something that could make them smarter.

"But we still need to succeed in brewing it," Albert said with a sigh, "And the effects may not be as good as you imagine."

Fred saw someone approaching from their opposite side, so he stopped talking about what they were just discussing and even gave Albert a kick.

"Who kicked me?" Lee Jordan glared at Fred and George.

Fred made a face, pretending not to know what he was talking about.

Albert noticed someone sitting opposite them—it was Dugglemore, the head of Hufflepuff House.

"What's the matter?" Albert asked as he noticed the frustrated expression on Dugglemore's face. It was certainly not good news.

"It seems that the Wizard Cards competition doesn't have much appeal; there's only one person signed up so far," Dugglemore said, feeling down.

"Just one, and it's you?" Albert asked with a puzzled expression.

"Yes, just me," Dugglemore nodded. The situation was even worse than he thought. It had been several days, and he couldn't believe that no one approached him to sign up. Dugglemore was feeling quite frustrated.

"We have four from our side, so together, we have five," Lee Jordan said, counting on his fingers. "We should be able to make it to eight."

"You need to have some confidence and patience," Albert looked at Dugglemore with a meaningful look. "We've given them the opportunity. If they don't want to participate, so be it. They'll surely envy the winner's prize later."

"What do you plan to use as the prize?" Dugglemore was curious; he knew Albert would prepare some prizes, but he didn't have high expectations for them.

"I haven't decided yet. Maybe Galleons or something else."

In fact, Albert originally didn't plan to use Galleons as the prize, but he changed his mind when a new task appeared on his mission panel not long ago.

Small-Scale Event.

You are planning a Wizard Cards competition and intend to promote Wizard Cards through this event. Invite at least 32 participants and attract more than 100 spectators to make this competition a resounding success.

Reward: 5000 experience points, 1 skill point, acquire the Transfiguration spell skill, +300 reputation, obtain the title: Wizard Cards Founder.

The rewards for this task were outstanding, but it would be a problem if no one signed up.

However, Albert wasn't worried at all about having no participants. After all, money could make things happen. When people heard that the champion would receive ten Galleons, many would surely be interested in the competition.

"Are you going to put up the money?" Dugglemore looked at Albert with a strange expression.

"If we use Galleons as the prize, then there might be an entry fee," Albert said after thinking about it. "I won't be a pushover, and it might be troublesome to handle a large number of participants. You should have read the competition rules, right?"

"Entry fee?" Fred and the others' eyes lit up, but Dugglemore frowned.

"If there's an entry fee, there might be even fewer participants."

"Well, it could be a way to select participants. If the champion's prize is ten Galleons," Albert continued.

"Ten Galleons?" Dugglemore was stunned, suddenly feeling a rich aura coming from Albert.

Ten Galleons were very attractive to many people, as not everyone had a Galleon in their pockets.

"Are you really planning to make it this big?" Dugglemore was a bit worried that Albert might not be able to come up with that amount. If he couldn't, the competition would become a joke.

"I haven't decided yet. Let's see how it goes. You can try releasing the news that the champion prize for Wizard Cards may be ten Galleons."

"Awesome! I'm sure many people will be interested. Wait for my good news," Dugglemore gave Albert a thumbs up. He didn't understand why Albert was willing to spend this money as the champion's prize, but he admired him nonetheless. Dugglemore knew that there must be some other reason behind Albert's decision; he didn't seem like someone who would willingly incur losses.

"Albert, is it really okay for you to spend money like this?" Not only Fred, but the others also looked at Albert with concern. Ten Galleons was not a small amount for them!

"What's there to be afraid of? It's only once a year. However, we need to pick up the pace and try to perfect Wizard Cards. We should start selling them next semester."

Yes, once Wizard Cards became popular, selling the cards would be the most profitable part.

However, the quality of the first batch of Wizard Cards couldn't be too poor, and that was a troublesome aspect. It wasn't something that could be done in a short period of time.
