Capítulo 228: Chapter 228: Conclusion

Winter nights fell early, and by five in the evening, the sky quickly darkened. However, today was different at Hogwarts. The Quidditch pitch was still brightly lit, with the professors lighting torches around the field to ensure the match could continue. The cold wind blew through the stadium, making it a challenging experience for the spectators.

Albert tightened his thick cloak to fend off the rapidly dropping temperature. Compared to him, the other spectators were in worse condition. Having missed lunch, they were all famished.

Despite the hunger and cold, the crowd remained enthusiastic, enduring the discomfort to watch the intense Quidditch match.

But the players in the air had it worse. The high-altitude wind was freezing, and as the night fell, it only got colder. The rookies, who were already nervous and hadn't eaten much in the morning, were now hungry, thirsty, and cold, their energy almost depleted.

The originally excited commentator, Lee Jordan, had lost his initial enthusiasm and his voice had turned hoarse after hours of commentary. With the help of Professor McGonagall's Amplifying Charm, he continued to persevere. It was a severe test for Lee, who was commentating for the first time.

"Look, they've spotted the Golden Snitch and are chasing after it!" Lee Jordan shouted from the stands. "Currently, the score is 210 to 270, with Ravenclaw temporarily in the lead. However, neither side has pulled ahead decisively. Whoever catches the Golden Snitch will bring victory to their team."

The fierce battle for the Golden Snitch continued in the sky as both Seekers were eager to end the long match.

After hours of play, all the players were exhausted.

"They're accelerating their dive. Oh, they're about to collide with the ground! Oh no, they collided! I hope they're okay." Lee Jordan exclaimed in horror. "Wait, oh no, the Ravenclaw Seeker has caught the Golden Snitch."

Nobody paid much attention to what Lee Jordan had said. The cheers erupted on the pitch as people celebrated the victory of the match.

Albert and the other Gryffindor spectators rushed onto the field. The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw players surrounded Charlie, the Gryffindor Seeker.

The situation of the two Seekers was grim. They were both injured and were quickly taken to the hospital wing on stretchers with the help of Professor McGonagall.

"Don't worry, Charlie will be fine," Albert comforted the twins, who were in poor condition themselves. They were shivering from the cold wind and seemed to be losing strength.

"Have some candy," Albert handed them some sweets and used his wand to remove the chill and dampness from their bodies.

"Thanks, you saved us," Fred said with a hint of weariness. They didn't refuse Albert's help; in fact, they had almost no energy left.

"This match lasted longer than expected," George said in a somewhat heavy tone. They had trained so hard, but in the end, they still lost the match.

"Charlie did his best," Albert said.

"I know, it's just bad luck," Fred sounded a little frustrated. Ravenclaw won the match, and it seemed like they had a bit of luck on their side. Both Seekers dived towards the ground, and when they collided, the Ravenclaw Seeker managed to catch the Golden Snitch.

Speaking of luck, everyone turned to look at Albert. If...

But they didn't continue that line of thought. There was no point in dwelling on what-ifs.

After eating some food, Albert and the Gryffindor players went to visit Charlie at the hospital wing. Madame Pomfrey had already treated him, but his condition wasn't great, and he needed to stay overnight for observation.

But Charlie wasn't alone. He had someone to keep him company, and unfortunately, that someone wasn't a girl but the Ravenclaw Seeker, who had shared the same fate.

As they left the hospital wing, the four of them ran into Professor Smith in the corridor.

"Albert, I was just looking for you," Professor Smith greeted Albert warmly and invited him to his office for Dark Arts Defense.

"This is what I mentioned last time." He handed a piece of parchment to Albert, containing the information Albert saw today in the Room of Requirement.

Indeed, Professor Smith had also been inside the Room of Requirement.

"This is the history of Hogwarts," Albert said after spending some time reading the content on the parchment.

"I know," Professor Smith nodded. "Do you think there's anything special about it?"

"Special?" Albert thought for a moment. "Nothing particularly special, it's just a piece of history, similar to what I've seen in the library."

Professor Smith seemed a bit disappointed, as Albert's findings were the same as his.

"If you must say something strange..." Albert hesitated for a moment before asking, "Was life for ancient wizards really that bad?"

Whether life was good or bad in that era, Albert naturally knew, but he was just trying to divert Professor Smith's attention.

"Not very good," Professor Smith explained, "During that time, magical knowledge wasn't organized and summarized like it is for us. Wizards were essentially groping in the dark. Knowledge was precious, and a piece of parchment could be worth as much as a baron's yearly income or even more. Many wizards at that time didn't have a wide range of magical knowledge, especially Muggle-born wizards. Their situation was very bad, possessing magical powers but having no formal magical education."

Having magical power without knowing how to use it was undoubtedly a bad situation. Muggles were afraid of such power, and anyone discovered with it would be considered a monster, with dire consequences. People like Tom Riddle, who explored and rudely used magic on their own, were ultimately in the minority.

"The four founders of Hogwarts were undoubtedly very great. At that time, wizards as powerful as them were still a minority. It was even rarer for them to be willing to selflessly share their knowledge with others," Professor Smith sighed.

"I thought it was a prosperous magical era," Albert muttered, "Hogwarts had those ancient and powerful magic..."

"You're right. During that time, there were indeed many magical and powerful spells. Although traces of those ancient magics can still be found today, no one uses them anymore... Maybe Dumbledore knows some of those ancient magics, but such cases are still rare," Professor Smith frowned slightly, realizing that there were some questions he couldn't figure out in a short time.
