Capítulo 13: Chapter 13: Knights are like cops............until benefits are involved

*Ding*

[new quest]: save and protect jewel and the other women for three days].

[Reward]: 3000 exp (no possibility of a bonus reward. No good deed goes unpunished)

The new quest surprised Alex, but nothing more. Star had already explained that the system used laws and faith to make deductions and inferences on the future. What startled Alex was that the knight's guards were in on whatever scheme was at play. Knights were like cops; they protect their own unless benefits are involved.

[new quest]: Kill one hundred corrupt knights in ten days. (0/100)]

[Reward]: 4000exp (possibility of a bonus reward. No evil deed goes unrewarded)

Alex blinked twenty times to arrive at the knight's fort, consuming two mana potions. In front of the fort, he saw jewel and the other women begging to be let back in; they pleaded they were innocent and should be allowed back in. Tears streamed down their faces with fear in their eyes, but the captain ignored them while the other knight pushed them from the entry the gate. As Alex watched what was happening, he coated his weapon in Raška venom; he wasn't a match for the knight in a head-to-head, but if they act up, he wouldn't mind sending some of them to hell.

Alex blinked to the corner and then opened a rift (There was no need for anyone to see him opening a rift) and walked to the woman.

Jewel was the first to recognize that it was the same person as yesterday and was about to explain their circumstances.

"No need to explain. I understand everything; give me your hand." The women did as he ordered; he thought that they would have hesitated slightly. 'It seems like they know their situation.' Alex thought.

As he was about to leave, he heard a loud bellow, "Who are you? Show me your identification card or prepare to die? I suspect you are the one killing the nobles!"

Alex turned around to see the captain, on the top of the watch post, looking at him. More than likely, the captain was in on the scheme and knew Alex was most likely the one who helped the women last time. The captain leaped with his sword in hand, causing the other knight to draw their weapon as well. Alex noticed that some knights did not draw their weapons. The difference between the weapon drawers and non-weapon drawers was that they wore either a black pin or a blue pin.

'Factions.'

'The captain either could not act on the women inside, in the open, or was he pushing them out for someone else?'

While in the air, the captain sent a slash made out of flames in Alex and the woman's direction. The captain didn't care if he hurt the women, all in the name of "duty." He suspected Alex of killing the nobles. Even though it was hog-wash, it was in the name of duty.

[new quest]: Kill and torture the knight's captain in ten days. (0/1)]

[Reward]: 6000exp (possibility of a bonus reward. No evil deed goes unrewarded)

Alex chuckled and blinked away with the women.

Alex blinked five times, bringing the women to the inside of the house of baron Rogue (Lilia).

'the safest places are where they least expect you to be'.

Alex planned to leave the women here; he could not protect them all night; that would be a waste of ten hours and change. There were no corpses in the house; they were most like taking to the coroner to determine what killed them and how. Alex led the woman to a cellar underground. The cellar was most likely used for the Baron and Baroness extra-curriculum activities. Alex found it during his spring cleaning. The cellar would have been a small apartment back on earth. Alex then took out an assortment of meat, beard, sheets, clothes, communication, stun talisman, and weapons, placed them in a storage ring, and handed it to Jewel.

"OK, Ladies, your husband will be back in three days; until then, you are not to exit this cellar. To the left is a small bathroom. In the ring in her hand, there is food, weapons which you won't need, clothing, and sheets. There are also five communication talismans which you can contact me if anything Unexpected happens. You understand someone is trying really hard to kill you or capture you, so don't exit this cellar." Alex said, looking at each one of them.

The women nodded.

Before leaving Alex destroyed the chimney.

'Anxiety can make people do crazy things like sending out a smoke signal to their own killer.'

As Alex was about to leave, jewel could not help but ask, "will Lith be alright?"

"Sure, he will be fine, just don't leave this place," Alex threw a reply over his shoulder before leaving.

Alex Blinked back in the area of the knight's fort, opened a rift, and entered. Since they wanted to die, he could fit them in his schedule. The knight's fort was massive, it could be compared to a university. Alex entered the first building. There he saw twenty-five knights with black or blue pin training. He exited immediately; what he needed to find was the knights sleeping quarters. The next building Alex entered was a meeting room with sixty Knights all wearing a black pin; Alex was shocked; if he could kill them all in on swop, he would level up. He was about to leave when he saw the captain enter. He did not bother with greetings and start yelling orders.

"We need to find those women. That is the only leverage we will have on Christopher. Use a tracking talisman to find them and carry space-locking talismans to lock the space. Make a team of six and search everywhere. If the other factions meddle in, kill them if you are sure it will not be discovered. Go Now!" the captain roared.

"Star, can a space locking talisman hinder me?" Alex asked

"Yes, that is why the skill section of the system prompted you to level up both blink and rift walk. There are different levels to space talisman; this being a lesser universe, I think it will at most only block your blink at level one."

The Knights march out on orders. Leaving the captain and another man that seemed like a mercenary.

"who is that bastard? You did not tell me he could use the space element so easily! He must be from one of the higher-ranked cities too. And space locking talismans are expensive; I hope you know that the price has just gone up," The captain roared at the mercenary.

The mercenary did not mind, "As long as we do the job, who cares!" he stated before exiting.

Alex had a problem now; he did not plan to babysit the women! He had plans for Alice, Wallace, Luke, and the red-light district of Saint Rothen. Alex tried to inspect both men, but either the ring on their fingers or a talisman blocked their information.

Alex knew he could counter the tracking talisman with a conceal talisman; the problem was that the Knights were actively going to search. They will only search harder if the amulet does not work.

"you mention rift walk. Can a space talisman stop that too?"

"No, even though both skills use space elements, the concepts are different. A space talisman locks space and stops you in that area, or like a box that traps you. It does not stop you from tearing space or the box to create a void. They need a void-locking talisman to stop rift walk. There should be no void talisman here since the skill is rarer. But I can only advise you to level the skill quickly and kill the knights before they find Jewel." Star instructed.

As he exited the building, the only thing he could think of was that the women would be safer in jail with him. Alex left the fort; there was no need to search for the Knights quarters when why would come to him; he also needed to prepare for them. Alex could not help but think ten hours had gone to waste. He sighed so hard that even Star reprimanded him, "This is an opportunity to level up!"
