Capítulo 103: The Rescued Family

William asked me to change into a valet's uniform, and he tied the dead Elena to a tent and pretended that she was me. This would fool the guards. William used his nobility to take me away from the camp successfully. After all, there was a war on the front lines, and Ian had used all his forces against his father. No one would notice me leaving.

We rode all the way, and William used his black cloak to hold me in his arms. We did not speak the whole way until he took me to a remote farmhouse. After William jumped off the horse, he first looked around, and when he saw nothing unusual, he helped me off the horse.

"Your family is in this house. Go in!" William whispered behind me.

"Aren't you going to go in with me?" I asked.

"To be safe, I have to guard the door!" William's simple answer touched me, and my originally calm heart began to stir again. I was getting increasingly used to the smell of lemongrass on him.
