CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT: WOLF BUSINESS.
Alessandro's interest was piqued when he heard hair colour and remembered a meeting with the prominent families of Northern America. He remembered seeing Alpha Derrick's unique hair colour that came off as unique amongst the other Alphas, Lunas, and their subjects in that meeting.
The meeting was about the invasion of extraterrestrial lifeforms in their territories and how to deal with them.
Alpha Derrick suggested subjugating them to their rule but was ruled out in favour of letting them coexist as long as no harm was done to any pack member.
Alessandro remembered asking about how they interact with the humans in their territories but was shot down since his pack was relatively new in this circle of prominent packs in Northern America. Rumours of his clan's past being weak and predicted to be a pack to join the rest that faded away was something those families still held strongly as their belief in destiny was stronger than reason.
Alessandro always hated such meetings since he was seen as the Alpha of a pack that was doomed to fade away. His rise to the top packs didn't do much for his pack other than accord the minimum respect given to one of the prominent packs on the continent.
Giovanni could feel the despair and anger building up slowly in his alpha and remembered his alpha having that same feeling anytime he was preparing to go for one of those meetings.
"What colour? What colour is it?" Alessandro asked and took a good helping of his coffee.
"One side was black…" Giovanni started as Alessandro's heart started beating fast.
"The other was fully white, not half… completely white," Giovanni said.
"Ha! Are you sure he isn't from a metal band or something? Catch up with the times, Giovanni! Haha," Alessandro laughed and went back to his coffee.
"Obviously, I thought the same," Giovanni said with a sigh.
"Please, Giovanni," Alessandro pleaded sincerely and hoped that there was no concrete evidence whatsoever.
"I had his bed checked and cleaned by staff I personally picked," Giovanni started as Giovanni gulped down his coffee.
"The few strands of hair we saw didn't even come from the bed but from the floor. I don't think he laid down long on his bed. We dared not put up a camera, of course, but the strands we found were on the floor," Giovanni said, arousing Alessandro's interest by the second.
"A transformation? There were full moons this week. It couldn't have been a partial transformation or something, right? He wouldn't be that stupid, right?" Alessandro asked calmly, sipping on his coffee that was coming to an end, sadly.
"No claw marks or sign of struggle, conflict, or transformation. Instead, the aura of that room felt enriching. Aside from that, the strands of his hair weren't that brittle. They could be compared to malleable metal. We ran a scan on it and couldn't find any trace belonging to any biological being on earth, which brings me to another conclusion," Giovanni said, bringing out a sample of Kevin's hair.
"Aliens," Alessandro said softly.
"Could be. But he fights them. Here are reports from the local sheriff at Marco's farm upstate from here. Marco is aware of an alien half-breed he deems not worthy of our attention that he can handle if the situation calls for it but got a peculiar report from Sheriff Mason," Giovanni said, passing Alessandro a small file from his suit jacket.
"Hmm. I keep telling the other packs we need to act on these aliens if they ever disturb the peace, but they keep laughing me off," Alessandro sighed and handed an empty cup to Giovanni to refill.
"Is this the same kid you spoke of?" Alessandro asked after seeing a photograph of Gwen, Kevin, Ben, and Allen.
"Yes. He said he could fly, create crystal shields, and absorb electricity. We might be looking at an alien here, Alex. But the electricity part…" Giovanni said as he turned to the coffee station to get more coffee.
"Is something Alpha Derrick can do? There are even rumours of him capable of flight," Alessandro said as he rubbed his temples.
"Hold on. Is that the kid who could turn into aliens? He's all grown up now. He's been keeping the peace in my territory. But the other alphas attribute the kid's glory to that Forever Knights group. Isn't it about time I take them down?" Alessandro reclined in his chair as Giovanni added milk and sugar to his coffee.
"So what do you suggest we do? I don't want to start a war over something we aren't too sure of now. I know how powerful that kid who turns into aliens can be, but I don't want to recruit him into this fight. He is only protecting one of our territories actively," Alessandro continued.
"Yeah. I basically left most of the job concerning Bellwood, where some of our businesses are, and Illinois as a whole. But that's just a province in our territories. We still have Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky all the way south to Alabama to worry about. But we know where he lives since he bought a penthouse in Bellwood. He also has a mother and father that live in another penthouse he recently purchased for them," Giovanni said as he handed a cup of coffee to Alessandro.
"Clone family? Just watch him for now. If he isn't Alpha Derrick's son, he could be an ally or a pest we need to take care of. Anyway, I'll get through to Alpha Derrick on this matter before any permanent decision is made. Carry on," Alessandro said as he looked at the remaining paperwork on his desk and sighed.
"Alright. Take care, Alex," Giovanni said and left the room.
Rubbing his head, Alessandro summoned Vance back to his office with a thought message after Giovanni left.
Vance was already at the door knocking within seconds of summoning and entered the room after Alessandro's permission.
"Forgive me, Alpha Alphonso, but Giovanni has to watch his tongue or I will remove it for him," Vance complained.
"Will you guys stop fighting already? Don't make me," Alessandro took a quick glance at Vance and went back to his paperwork.
Silence reigned in the office until Alessandro spoke.
"Put me through to Alpha Derrick. I need to speak with him now."
