Capítulo 1: The Fall of the Moon

The moon was visible in the sky.

The darkness of the night sky reached every corner of the EverMoon Kingdom, except for one city in the center of the kingdom.

Even within the dark, the city glowed brightly.

A beautiful light green color that reached the clouds and made the entire city as bright as day.

Emerald City.

The biggest city in the kingdom, made for tourists and trades.

The laughs of children, the stomping of the feet of someone dancing, and clashing of wooden mugs full of beer can be heard all over the city. And as the children ran outside playing with each other, some ran into a pool of water dripping down the street from out of sight.

The curious children not understanding and not caring, started to play in the water.

As the adults noticed this strange phenomenon happening, they began to run to guards for help.

The guards then brought back the news to the royal family.

The king and Queen of the entire kingdom.

Both the King and Queen knew exactly what was happening and panic started to set in.

The Queen quickly ordered the guards.

"We need to get Calem out of the Kingdom, this is the highest priority, more important than our lives."

And with those words the guards quickly ran to the prince's room.

The prince Calem was studying in the corner of his room unaware of what's happening around him.

The knight spoke.

"Lord Calem, we must leave now, your life is in danger."

Prince Calem shocked and worried replied with fear.

"But mother and father.... What of them?"

But before the knight could respond, a flood of water came rushing into the kingdom.

Almost as big as the kingdom itself, it was so destructively fast buildings flew apart as if it was made of straws.

The chaos and screaming was unrelenting, the green glowing city was covered in red.

this day would go on to be named,

The Death of a Thousand Lights.

And as the children suffocated, and the buildings crushed multiple people and as the currents tore the limbs straight off the bone of anyone unfortunate enough to get hit, the queen watched in horror as her husband was impaled by debris and laying next to her dead.

She stared into his lifeless eyes as if she was waiting for him to look back at her, but he never did. She stared at him traumatized to her core for what seemed like eternity.

Then suddenly a wounded guard pulled her up and carried her towards a secret entrance of the castle. And suddenly the queen was filled with horror with one thought that crossed her mind.

"M-my, Son..." her voiced trembled weakly.

The guard responded,

"Don't worry my queen, the kings guard already responded to us and Calem is being taken cared of, we will meet them in the forest outside the kingdom."

And as the guard carried the queen through emerald city, blood and flesh laid everywhere, buildings and houses flooded and destroyed, and bodies laid everywhere.

As a queen the more she was taken through the city the more she was horrified by what had happened to her kingdom and all the citizens she saw as her children.

Eventually they left the kingdom and had arrived to the outskirts of the now destroyed nation walls and in the forest, she had finally saw her son, he was being carried by the kings guard and he was hurt and bleeding but still conscious.

"My beloved baby Shen." The relief in her voice could be heard from everyone.

Calem could never understand why she always called him shen but he never complained.

As she ran to him and held him in her arms she realized how big he's gotten, she still just thought of him as the dorky baby she loved but now holding his hands in hers she realized how they were now even larger than hers.

Thinking about how much he has grown with her, and the times she used to hold him as a baby, a feeling started to well up inside her stomach.

Her vision started to get blurred and she could feel her eyes becoming more and more wet.

She had to stay strong for her child, everything she was feeling she started to push everything deep down and ignore her emotions.

As she held onto her son, getting ready to let go knowing she could never see him again, suddenly her grip got tighter and her hand wouldn't let her son leave.

At that point all of her suppressed emotions, all of the decisions she made that she kept telling herself she was ok with because it was for the safety of her child, started coming to the surface. Looking at her child finally letting herself understand what it meant to let her child go.

And as hard as she tried to fight it, all of her strength couldn't stop the well of tears that would pour out of her eyes.

And as the tears kept flowing the more her chest would hurt and the more she held on to her child. She needs to let go, she wants him to live a full life, but the pain of knowing this is her final moments with him was too much, even for the queen of a nation.

And in that moment the silent tears turned into chest aching screams, her pain at this point was unbearable and she couldn't stand it.

She had been queen her entire life and the last 10 years she have never cried, she never believed that anything worse could happen to her and nothing could bring her to tears ever again.

Evidently she was terribly wrong.

And as she was wallowing in her pain, she thought to herself that this was as bad as it could get.

But as if fate was mocking her, as soon as she had that thought her child then began to hug her trying to comfort her.

This broke her heart even more and she couldn't take it anymore, she doesn't- no she CAN'T let her child go, and she held onto her child with all the strength she had in her.

As she held onto him the rustling of the grass could be heard in the distance, and as it got closer the cries of the horses could be heard as well.

"My Queen, we have to go.... I- I believe we're out of time."

The guard announced hurriedly.

The guard then proceeded to drag the queen away from Calem, the Kings guard grabbed Calem and began to carry him out of sight.

And as the queen was carried away in a different direction all she could do was watch as her son disappeared in the horizon, illuminated by the darkness of the night.

As the knight ran with her in his arms he suddenly came to a stop, and a single dark, disturbed voice reached out from the pit of darkness.

It only said a single word.

Retribution.

Capítulo 2: The Meaning of Royalty

Calem fought to get back to his mother

"Wait why are you running away from mother!?"

Calem asked frantically.

The Kings guard sighed. He thought about his response and hesitated to answer.

"Listen your-..."

He stopped, and then spoke again

"You're more than just Calem Rivers, you're Shen, the true heir to the throne, and you will bring about peace to the realm."

Calem had trouble processing what he was hearing. Most importantly he didn't understand.

"Curse you knight, speak of mother!"

Calem yelled angrily.

The kings guard spoke softly.

"They were after her, not you, of course they knew of  you but your mother, she..."

He stopped himself.

"Someone is after mother, you are the kings guard you're duty bound to protect mother!"

A sad silence passed over them, both hesitant to speak.

The kings guard broke silence first. He continued to speak in a gentle voice.

"Aye, I am. But her grace wanted this, and most importantly the realm needs you."

Silenced washed over them again.

"Shen..."

A few seconds past until the kings guard comes to a stop and lays Calem on the floor. The kings guard slowly unsheathes his sword, a long black blade that emitted blue light reached all the way down to the hilt which had the design of the royal family crest. A dragon with the wings of water and within the actual blade was a bright blue crystal.

The kings guard spoke in a stern voice.

"You clearly don't have an affinity for that magical crystal nor do you know its potential, otherwise so much magick wouldn't be pouring out wastefully."

Nothing happened. The kings guard sword was raised towards an area of the forest that was heavily covered with trees.

...

More time passed and as if time froze, the kings guard kept his sword raised. Finally he spoke again.

"I'm done with this charade, I must protect young master Shen."

He then held his sword upright, and started to mumble and with his words the crystal in the kings guard blade started to glow a bright blue color.

"May the GODDESS SELENE bless me with her Light."

The magick crystal glowed even brighter and water started to wrap around the blade. the kings guard then thrusted his sword forwards wasting no time. suddenly a wave of water flooded through the forest and all of the trees blocking everything out of sight was suddenly crushed and destroyed. In its wake was 3 bodies that laid dead on the floor. The kings guard looked above the bodies and their was several more men with shocked expressions on their face and behind them stood a large cart with a large cage attached to the back.

One of the men spoke.

"Fuck what are we supposed to do, that's a fucking kings guard. We cant kill him, he's been blessed by the Goddess."

Another man responded with a frantic voice.

"Doesn't matter, we just need to get the kid, I heard the Kings guard say his name, Shen, so he's at least a noble and with such expensive clothes he'll catch a nice price."

The kings guard responded back with an annoyed voice.

"Goddamn slave traders, you fucking bastards."

The slave traders then started to move slowley, beginning to circle around the front of the kings guard. But before any of them could fight an ominous presence was felt by all. The kings guard turned and looked behind him and could see nothing but pitch black.

Everyone was silent, not a sound made. That silence was broken by footsteps, ever so slightly did it make noise and at a slow pace it moved but even still it was heard by all.

With each step it took closer, the more you could feel the nervousness of everyone waiting for who would appear. Everyone stood still like statues, sweat dripping down faces of men paralyzed by fear.

It spoke.

"The Boy."

The kings guard gripped his sword tightly. He paced his breathing to calm himself. He realized the situation he was in, nowhere to run and cornered on both sides.

The slave traders made the first move and one men ran towards Calem.

The kings guard swung his sword directly behind him and water flew at the man at high speeds instantly beheading him. His body slumped to the ground and his head rolled towards their cart.

Suddenly black goo came up from the ground, the kings guard quickly took notice grabbed Calem and jumped. At this point Calem was scared and confused holding onto the kings guard for dear life.

The kings guard thought to himself.

~that's not just some ordinary magick someone can use with a magick crystal~

Then one of the slave traders pulled out a bow and arrow, on the base of the bow was a green glowing crystal embedded into the bow itself.

The slave trader pulled the arrow back on the bow and suddenly the wind started to swirl around the arrow very violently.

And as the arrow was being pulled back the slave trader finally let go, letting the arrow fly towards the kings guard in the air. The arrow was fast and made a piercing sound through the air.

The king's guard quickly lifted his sword infront of himself and water started to spread out making a shield, and as soon as the water started to form the arrow hit the water with its violent speed, it seemed like the arrow would cut through the water like butter until it just suddenly stopped. The water had turned to ice at the last second.

The slave trader scoffed

"Only a fucking kings guard could make water into ice so fast."

Suddenly the black goo shot up and grabbed the kings guard foot and pulled him to the ground, slamming him onto the floor.

Before the kings guard slammed, wind shot up and lowered Calem to the ground.

"Wind Magick to keep yourself in the air."

Kings guard started to cough up blood and chuckled.

"Heh.... So you knew..."

Calem looked at the kings guard and quickly screamed and looked away.

The kings guard leg was broken and twisted the other way.

"Now's our chance grab the noble boy!"

The few remaining slave traders grabbed onto Calem and started to drag him away.

The kings guard became frantic.

"No!..."

He tried swinging his sword but his arm was suddenly impaled by the black goo.

"AGGHHHHH!!"

Calem eyes was then covered by a sack and all he could hear was the screams of his kings guard and the claps of the horses feet hitting the ground pulling him away from his last shred of freedom.
