Capítulo 6: Chapter 22: Meeting Ryoko Tamiya Again

By midnight, Shinichi Kudo remained unconscious. The right arm, which had been lost due to Migi's transfer, had now grown back halfway. Suddenly, Migi's large eyes turned towards Cyrus.

"Do you have any water or something to replenish sugar? To repair Shinichi's heart, I extracted a lot of nutrients from his blood."

"There's a convenience store not far from Mount Takao. They should have white sugar and mineral water." Under the moonlight, Shinichi's cheekbones were sunken, resembling a homeless person who hadn't eaten for a week. Cyrus got up, brushed off the dirt from his pants, and looked around the surrounding forest.

"If any wild animals come by, can you handle them?"

In response, Migi transformed into a sharp blade.

"Okay, I'll be back soon."

Cyrus turned and left, thinking to himself, "Is it guarding against me? No wonder, as a Parasite Beast with no emotions. I remember from the original story that after merging with Shinichi, Migi would gradually develop human emotions. It seems this process is quite slow."

About an hour later, Cyrus returned with a bag of supplies. He pulled out a bottle of mineral water, opened the cap, and set it on the ground. Then, he took out a bag of white sugar, poured it into the bottle, and shook it vigorously until the sugar dissolved completely before setting it back down.

"Now, it's up to you."

"Alright." Migi, extending from Shinichi's right arm, acted like a straw, inserting its tendrils into the bottle of sugar water. As Migi sucked, the sugary water was quickly consumed, causing Migi's abdomen to swell.

Next, Migi extended its tendrils into Shinichi's mouth, supplying him with the necessary fluids and sugars.

Meanwhile, Cyrus tore open a sushi bento and began eating his dinner. However, as soon as he put a piece of sushi in his mouth, its dry texture made him frown. He chewed vigorously before swallowing.

"The seaweed isn't crispy at all—fail! The rice quality is poor—fail! Most importantly, the pork floss is too dry—an utter failure." Despite his complaints about the bento's quality, Cyrus finished eating it diligently.

"I wonder when this guy will wake up."

Cyrus lay on the grass, breathing in the earthy smell, and looked up at the moon.

...

The next noon, Cyrus awoke groggily, feeling the pleasant warmth of the sun on his skin.

"Good afternoon, Migi."

Cyrus greeted Migi, but there was no response.

As he was washing his face, he heard some noise behind him.

Shinichi, who had just woken up, immediately searched for his glasses. Fortunately, Cyrus had picked up his glasses and placed them next to him the previous day, allowing Shinichi to find them easily.

With his face pale and gaunt, Shinichi put on his glasses only to find that his vision remained blurred. He removed the glasses and finally saw clearly.

"Drink some water." Cyrus tossed a bottle of mineral water to Shinichi.

Shinichi caught the bottle and gulped down the water eagerly. As he rehydrated, memories from the previous day flooded back. He glanced down at his chest and saw that his white shirt was stained with blood, with a large gash over his heart.

"My heart... I remember being pierced by a Parasite Beast. How am I still alive?" Shinichi stood stunned, mumbling to himself.

"That's something you should ask Migi about." Cyrus took out a rice ball for breakfast and handed it to Shinichi.

Shinichi lifted his right hand, but it remained unresponsive. "Migi, Migi." No matter how much he called, Migi didn't appear, leaving Shinichi feeling a bit unsettled. "Cyrus, where is Migi?"

"It expended a lot of energy repairing your heart, so it should be resting now."

"By the way, how are my parents? What happened to the Parasite Beast?" Shinichi immediately thought of his mother, whose arm had been severed, and his father.

Shinichi approached Cyrus anxiously.

"Your mother is currently at Tokyo's Third Affiliated Hospital. Thanks to timely treatment, she's in stable condition, and her arm was reattached. However, there are some aftereffects, and it might not return to its original state." Compared to the original plot, Shinichi was indeed fortunate, and he sighed heavily with relief. As long as his parents were alive, that was all that mattered.

"What about the Parasite Beast?"

Shinichi pressed on.

Cyrus pointed to the cliff. "I suspect that the Parasite Beast encountered problems with the host body it was trying to parasitize, which is why it attempted to move to your mother. When it failed, it jumped off the cliff. If it was unlucky, it might have already died from the fall."

"No, it hasn't died."

Shinichi said firmly, pressing on his healing wound.

"It almost killed my mother. To prevent more people from falling victim, I swear I will find it among the crowd and kill it!"

"Let me know if you find any news about it. Given its speed of attack, its strength is likely comparable to Parasite Beast A." Cyrus and Shinichi arrived at the base of Mount Takao, where Cyrus flagged down a taxi.

The taxi first took Shinichi to the hospital and then brought Cyrus to a café.

At the café, Cyrus met Ryoko Tamiya.

"I heard you've resigned from your teaching position?"

"Yes. They somehow learned about my pregnancy and inquired about the father of my child. I didn't want to tell them, so I had no choice but to resign." Ryoko sipped her coffee gracefully.

"By the way, why did you ask to see me today? I've already given you all the information I have about the Parasite Beasts."

To fuse the "Transfer" talent ability, Cyrus needed to kill a Parasite Beast in the process of transferring hosts, and he couldn't find one himself. So, he reached out to Ryoko Tamiya, who, as a senior member of the Parasite Beast organization, should know the locations of many Parasite Beasts.

"I need a Parasite Beast for an experiment."

Cyrus stated his purpose directly.

Ryoko smirked slightly, setting down her coffee. "Why should I help you? After all, I still can't confirm whether you're a Parasite Beast or a human. Regardless of your true identity, it seems I have no obligation to help you."

"Ms. Tamiya, are you truly trusted within the organization? If that were the case, Parasite Beast A wouldn't have rampaged through the school on its own." Cyrus remained calm, having prepared for rejection from the start. "I imagine some of your ideals have already caused discontent among many Parasite Beasts. How can you ensure that they won't target your child?"
