Abigail was happy to get a phone. She was especially impressed with how quickly he had obtained a phone for her. As she held it in her hand, her mind filled with suspicion. She raised her eyes at him skeptically.

"Is there something on this phone?" she asked.

"Sorry?"

"Did you put something in it to listen in on my calls or keep an eye on me?"

Lance, taken aback by the accusation, felt a flicker of offense at her lack of trust.

"Ms. Barbe, I assure you, there is nothing in this phone," he responded earnestly, his voice tinged with a hint of disappointment. "I would never breach your privacy or compromise your trust."

Abigail's skepticism wavered, but the seed of doubt still remained within her. She pressed on, her eyes searching his face for any sign of deception.
