Ryan could not help but smile. He had expected that this girl who had a very high resemblance to Lia would certainly match her in the degree of feistiness.
“I plan to make your sister smile. If I do make her cry, trust me, it would be unintentional,” Ryan said as Dawn nodded slowly.
“Tonight was beautiful, Mr. Nash, but a horrible first impression. Look at my sister,” Dawn said as she glanced at Lia.
Ryan looked at Lia and immediately noticed her tear-stained, puffy face. Quickly, he rushed to her side and dropped to his knees. He tucked strands of her silky hair behind her ear and stroked her cheek with the back of his hand.
“What happened? Are you ok?” he whispered.
“I think I will excuse the two of you. Lia, will you be ok?” Dawn asked.
Lia nodded and Dawn exited the bedroom.
“I am fine,” Lia said.
“Lia, you were crying. You can’t tell me you are fine.”
“I am fine. Yes, I was crying, tears of joy! After all, it was my engagement party!” Lia retorted.
