Capítulo 23: chapter 23

As I dialed James' number, my mind raced with thoughts of Damian's true intentions. Why was he really here? And what did he want with Liam? I tried to push aside the feeling of unease and focus on the conversation with James.

"James, it's Emily," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Damian is here. He claims he wants to discuss a business partnership, but I don't trust him."

James' voice was calm and reassuring. "I'm on my way. Don't let him out of your sight."

I hung up the phone and returned to the living room, where Damian was still playing with Liam. I watched them, trying to see any signs of deceit, but Damian seemed genuinely happy to be with his son.

As I observed them, I realized that I needed to be careful. Damian might be trying to manipulate me, but he was also Liam's father. I couldn't deny them a relationship without a good reason.

"Damian, I need to ask you something," I said, trying to sound calm.
