In the land of Saunders, vampires, humans and werewolves resided side by side.
They had a peace settlement which was first provoked and broken by the werewolves and a crazy ten years fight began between the werewolves and the vampires.
Humans were the watcher of this decade long great war. Bloodshed, screams for mercy and the ache of what had been lost, enveloped the once peaceful evergreen land of Saunders.
Days never came back. Nights became the reality. The werewolf leader, Jamal, had taken the help of the witches from the Mirror forest to make the full moon night last for eternity.
The vampires fought for both their and the human's sides. The battle for power and influence ultimately ended with the death of both the Leaders of the opposing sides.
The full moon watched the wetland in serene blood and cold bodies taking rest on it forever.
Beating hurts, now unbeaten lying frozen on the ground. As the news of the great war ending reached the settlement area, one by one, all marched towards the battlefield.
"Come here, Amaruq. We have to go now!"
Called out his mother, Beta, wife of late Jamal. She and her son were all alone in the camp of the werewolves. Others had already left, long before.
She heard the footsteps, the marching sounds. Amaruq, a three-year-old walked up to his mother.
She held his little wrist and peaked out to see if anyone was outside. The entire camping area was forlorn and dense fog danced around.
She wore her green cloak and made him wear his white exotic furry ones, the one that his father made for him.
Beta then walked out of the camp. They had to run away from the land of Saunders and never appear here ever again if she valued hers and her little son's life.
Jamal had lost his mind when he had the vision to conquer the whole world, starting with their homeland, evergreen Saunders, now a land of blood and darkness.
"Where is father, mommy?"
The little boy asked. He had not seen his father in three weeks and his mother would not tell him anything.
"We are going to say goodbye to him."
Beta replied as they hiked towards the battle wet ground. She could never leave before bidding the man she loved farewell for one last time.
It was a dangerous journey to the dark bloodied land, in between their camping area and the ground of the allied power, the vampires and the humans.
"When we lose, my love, run away as far as you can with our son to the mountains of Soul...nobody will ever go there if they still cherish their life!"
She remembered her husband's last words before going to the last battle, that would seal their faith forever.
As she trekked towards the wetlands, she could still hear his voices screaming at her to turn back and run with their son back towards the direction of the mountains of Soul.
But she just could not. Nobody could part their ways without one last goodbye from their lover.
So did Celeste, who could not stop herself from running towards the battlefield with other humans and vampires to see her dead husband, died as a warrior and leader of the next Vampire generations to come.
Ambrosia watched her mother run crazy fast like the wind in the cold nights.
When Beta and Amaruq reached the edge of the wetlands, the little boy held onto his mother's waist, afraid and astonished at the deadly sight before his eyes.
Beta could sniff her husband's smell and saw him lying on the pool of his own blood and the vampire king, Salah's blood.
Salah's heart was on his hand and Salah's dragger shoved deep in his heart.
Beta covered her mouth with her hands to stop the cries of deep pain echoing out from her throat, on seeing the man she had loved resting forever.
"SALAH!!"
Celeste's scream resonated in every direction and to those nearby lands who were speculating if the war had really ended, now knew that it indeed had.
As Celeste stepped on the wetland, Beta took a step backwards, holding onto her son's wrist.
The rest of the crowd followed right after from all the directions and Beta felt trapped. She made Amaruq and herself hide their faces wearing the head of the cloak.
Celeste fell down on her knees beneath her husband's body, defeated and wounded. If not for their daughter, Ambrosia, she would have had joined him too in the journey of death...beyond life.
Ambrosia sat down beside her mother, fearfully watching her father lying on the wet ground, dead and black as if all his blood had been suck off of his body.
In the grief of losing her husband and pain of seeing his once beating heart in possession of the enemy's hand, which would spell defeat on their side, Celeste wailed out something so hienious and vile that would haunt the land of Saunders forever.
"Slay all that are alive! Kill all those who have taken away my husband from me! Terminate all of those who cursed this peaceful land of Suanders with the night!!!!"
The humans and the vampires stood static, not understanding if it were to be really done. They just had a war.
"Vanquish them from the face of the earth!!!"
Celeste's scream tore inside the ears of the crowd and whatever weapon, anybody had, their eyes searched for the werewolf between them.
Those who stayed back in the allied's side, afraid of the queen's order, tried to match away from the battlefield.
But the knives and the shovels were shoved deep inside their thick bodies and the cry for life echoed everywhere.
Another war broke out in the midst of an over war land on the same night. Ambrosia looked around and saw the werewolves being slaughtered by humans and vampires.
"Mom, stop it!!! Stop them...they will kill Lucia too!!"
She urged her mother who remained stoic and static, staring at her husband's cold body without any thought.
And before her very eyes, her best friend, Lucia Andrews was killed and the blood poured all over Ambrosia's pale white face.
Beta struggled to get out of the crazy crowd. Her husband was right, asking her to stay away from the land of battle but her foolish heart could not and now both hers and son's life were in danger.
Transforming into a wolf for speed, Beta sped away, leaving behind her past and future at the same time.
When all the werewolves were slaughtered and killed, that night leaving only the humans and vampires as the citizens of Saunders, the scavengers roamed around the wetland, collecting bodies and throwing them away in the mirror forest for the beasts to dine.
A man heard the crying of a little boy and found him curled up in the cold against a pine tree.
"What are you doing here boy?? Who are you?"
The boy looked up with a tearful face and was about to tell who he was but stopped himself when he remembered his mother's words.
"Never tell who you are really when we tour towards the new land...never reveal your identity, Ruqui!"
"I m Ruqui!"
It was all he said and the man lifted him up in his arms and did not ask him anything else.
Under the cold night, as the winter snow started showering over them, covering the leaves, the bloodied land and the deads, the scavenger carried the boy to his village, in the outskirts of the Saunders.
He passed by many dead bodies, legs torn away, no hands, bleeding eyes, the stomach torn opened, frozen hearts.
He heard the roaring of the beast and saw the other scavengers, pulling the bodies away and throwing them inside the mirror forests.
The man opened the worn-out wooden door of his small dwelling and in come out, a woman.
"Ralph is that you??"
She saw a boy in his arms and her eyes asked him the question before she had to open her mouth.
"This is Ruqui and he will spend the night with us!"
It was what Ralph had said and the woman disappeared from their view to preparing an extra one plate for the supper tonight.
Later in the night, after settling on to retire for the day, Princess Ambrosia could not deter away from the sight of her friend's ruthless murder.
And in that long deep dark night, the little boy saw in his dream of a girl slated by her neck, blood spurting out and falling on a white girl's face.
"It's alright, Ruqui! It's alright!"
When he woke up, with sweat beads dancing on his forehead, he found himself in the arms of the woman, petting his head to calm him down.
But was it alright?? Was everything ever going to be alright??
As Beta sped away in exile to the Mountains of Souls, the nightmares becoming a reality for little Ruqui and the guilt of watching her friend being murdered, forever hunted Ambrosia and in its place, mad Vampire Queen acquiring the throne...
Will everything be ever alright in the Great land of Saunders??
