In a secure facility in New York-
In a place that looked like a warehouse from the outside, there were several LCD monitors hanging on the walls, all displaying the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo as screensavers.
At this moment, Coulson and Kabuto sat face to face on opposite sides of a table.
"Mr. Kabuto, when you said you're not from a ninja village, what do you mean?" Coulson asked.
Kabuto smiled, "Not all ninjas come from ninja villages."
"When the ninja villages were established, some ninja families chose not to join them and continued to live independently as families."
"In addition to the ninja villages, there are other ninja factions, and there are also wandering ninjas like myself."
Hearing Kabuto's words, Coulson understood.
"Thank you for letting me know. I always thought all ninjas were from ninja villages, but I didn't expect there to be ninjas outside of them," Coulson said.
In his mind, he thought that this information was of great significance.
Kabuto smiled, "It's not such a big deal."
"You mentioned earlier that S.H.I.E.L.D. is responsible for communicating with ninjas. Have many ninjas come here?" Kabuto asked.
Coulson didn't hide anything and replied, "Yes, quite a few ninjas have appeared recently. Besides two rogue ninjas, the rest are mainly from the ninja villages."
"Even those two rogue ninjas were from ninja villages."
"The main villages present here are Konoha, Suna, and Oto, with the most ninjas coming from Konoha."
Kabuto sighed, "I can't believe so many ninja villages have come here."
Hearing Kabuto's sigh, Coulson pondered for a moment before asking, "Mr. Kabuto, do you have any new missions this time?"
"If you don't mind, you can tell me. S.H.I.E.L.D. is willing to help you with your mission as much as we can."
Kabuto shook his head with a smile and replied, "I just happened to come here by accident and didn't receive any specific mission."
Hearing his response, Coulson didn't know if it was true or not, so he tentatively asked, "Mr. Kabuto, may I ask which country you're from? Do you have any passports or identification documents?"
"If you don't have such documents, it will be very troublesome for things like hotel check-ins or traveling by plane or train."
Kabuto pondered for a moment at this question, then replied, "I suppose I could be considered from the Land of Fire."
"As for the documents you mentioned, what are they?"
Coulson was surprised, "The Land of Fire?"
"What country is that?"
Kabuto was astonished to hear that Coulson didn't know about the Land of Fire. He said with some surprise, "You don't know?"
Coulson shook his head, "If I'm not mistaken, there is no Land of Fire on Earth."
Then Coulson turned to the agent beside him and asked, "James, has there been a newly established country called the Land of Fire recently?"
James replied directly, "I've never heard of it before."
"Recently, I just reviewed the latest applications for nationhood and all the country profiles from the United Nations, and there's no country called the Land of Fire."
With a definitive answer, Coulson looked at Kabuto, hoping for a response.
However, Kabuto just smiled and said, "Agent Coulson, since you've had contact with many ninjas, you must know."
"In the world of ninjas, information is like currency. I can't just give it away for free."
"Information comes at a price."
Hearing Kabuto's words, Coulson realized that this was another individual who required payment.
"I wonder what Mr. Kabuto needs?" he asked.
Kabuto rubbed his eyes and didn't immediately answer. Instead, he asked, "How do you settle payments when working with other ninjas?"
Hearing this question, Coulson's mind raced. This was an unaffiliated ninja who seemed unaware of what S.H.I.E.L.D. offered ninjas in cooperation.
Changing the subject, Coulson didn't directly answer Kabuto's question but said, "Mr. Kabuto, since you're not affiliated with any ninja village or faction, would you consider being hired by S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
Upon hearing the offer of employment, Kabuto didn't immediately refuse but asked, "For wandering ninjas like us, we also take on missions to sustain ourselves."
"If S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to hire me, it's not impossible. But what can you offer?"
Coulson clapped his hands, and James brought two briefcases over and placed them on the table, opening them to reveal their contents.
One briefcase contained 50 energy blocks, while the other contained liquid adamantium alloy.
Seeing the items in front of him, Kabuto knew what they were but pretended not to know and asked, "What are these?"
Seeing that Kabuto seemed to be guessing, Coulson explained, "This is an energy block sourced from the Tesseract."
"It's what we've used in the past for intelligence exchanges and mission assignments with other ninjas."
"As for the other briefcase, it contains adamantium alloy, an incredibly hard metal. Weapons made from it are virtually indestructible, and it's highly effective for defense."
Hearing Coulson's explanation, Kabuto glanced at the liquid metal inside and asked, "Is there a solid form of this metal?"
"I'd like to see the adamantium alloy you mentioned."
Coulson looked at James and said, "James, please bring over the third case."
"Yes, sir!"
As James went to fetch the so-called third case, Kabuto took out one of the energy blocks from the briefcase and examined it in his hand. Then he looked at Coulson and asked, "How do you use this thing?"
Hearing Kabuto's question, Coulson was also surprised. This ninja in front of him seemed to be unaware of how to use energy blocks.
"Mr. Kabuto, I also don't know how ninjas use these energy stones."
"I thought you would know how to use them, since other ninjas have used them for settlements before."
Upon hearing Coulson's words, Kabuto shook his head, "This is the first time I've seen this thing. I might need some time to study it."
"Since other ninjas use it for settlements, it must be useful for ninjas."
Hearing his response, Coulson nodded. He was also curious about how ninjas used these energy blocks.
