At 4:00 in the morning, Becky tiptoed as silently as possible, making sure that the sound of her footsteps would not be heard by Noah. She pulled the door to another silent room in the underground open, "Uncle," She called to the man standing and having his back faced the door.
"I know you would come." The man responded without turning to face Becky.
"What are you doing here, uncle?" Becky asked, her eyes narrowing and her brows furrowed. Becky was astonished to see Doctor Peters earlier and feigned she needed some rest, despite the fact that she really wanted to cling to Noah. She didn't want Noah to notice her expression at the time, and exploding with rage in front of Noah wouldn't have been healthy for Noah or his father, who didn't appear to be recovering.
She had decided to wait until Doctor Peters would be done with his pretence for her to face him.
"My good Becky, how have you been? I heard you had been shot. How does your body react to the poison?" He inquired in a calm sweet voice which would without doubt make anyone who didn't know him as closely as Becky did, think that he is the most righteous man in town, but Becky knew that behind that calm voice and concerned inquiry lurked an evil heart.
"That isn't the answer to my question," Becky responded in a harsh yet whispering voice and glared at the back of the man in front of her.
Doctor Peters made a quick swift turn, dropped the medical report in his hand on the desk in front of him and shot a lovely stare at his long-time-no-see friend, "Oh, is that so?" Doctor Peters acted casually before he made an answer that seemed amusing to him but not to Becky.
"I just completed a successful surgery on Noah's father with Doctor Leo 20 minutes ago. I thought that is obvious because you saw me when you had come in with Noah, but I was surprised you disappeared before I could even take a closer look at your pretty face."
"I see, congratulations on a suc…cess… full surgery." Becky laughed. She ogled him up and down, as though she was watching his lovely physical appearance, and mocked at how his softest male features could flawlessly and perfectly mask the crimes he conducts behind closed doors.
"Nice compliment, thank you." Doctor Peters left a sly smile on his face and stared straight at Becky who was returning the same look at him.
"You can only deceive Noah but not me. So, you better let me know why you're here. Why did you decide to do the surgery yourself?" Becky forced her angry voice to be as low as possible.
"It's past 4 am and I'm so tired after the long hours I spent keeping Maverick alive, so I would like to get some rest if you don't mind." Doctor Peters gestured his hand in a clear message that meant Becky should leave.
"You don't think I believe you came to this place just to run a 'successful surgery'? Aren't you tired of pretending you love Alpha Maverick and his son?" Becky continued without minding what he said.
"Hmm," Doctor Peters scoffed and smiled more mischievously. "You know I'm a sincere and close friend of Maverick."
"You can say that to yourself, I'm not a fool to swim and get drowned in your pool of pretence," Becky said firmly, trying not to raise her voice.
"Oh, wow. Brave woman, I see. And what about you? Tell me, aren't you pretending you love Noah because you want something from him?"
Becky frowned and turned defensive. "I love Noah with my whole heart, do not try to rub your crime on someone else's face."
"Let me believe you," Doctor Peters nodded and made a deeper sly smile. "With one part of my heart." He added and chuckled.
"Don't try to make a jest of this, my good uncle Peters." Becky laughed along with him which slowly died and turned into a burning glare.
"Ah, come on Becky. You know, no matter how the surgery goes, Maverick won't survive it." He suddenly flung the medical report out of the desk which landed safely on Becky's front. She bent and picked up the report knowing there must be an important message he wanted to pass. Scanning through the book and barely understanding most of the medical terms, she was able to spot important information.
"What?!" The medical report stated the damages completely done to Alpha Maverick's body.
"Yes, and that's the truth."
"Then why didn't you let Noah know about it?" Stunned Becky almost shouted.
"Because I want what you want too."
"W—what are you talking about?" Becky's brows furrowed.
"You want Noah to love you more than just friends. I also want something so precious from him too, Hahaha!"
"Huff, I knew it all along. You must be crazy, uncle."
"Yes, I know I am crazy!"
"You, you're a..." Becky barely stopped herself from calling her uncle a stupid bastard. "So I've wasted my money paying for this surgery?"
"Foolishly enough, you did, and your money is swimming in my bank account right now, no doubt. I'm so sorry Doctor Leo and Noah believed in me. Hahaha!"
"You..." Becky said between gritted teeth and clenched fist. "How did you get Doctor Leo's contact in the first place?"
"You want to know that too? Okay, I will tell you. My sweetheart Maverick imprisoned for so many years gave me the information." He sat down nonchalantly on the chair beside him "She also had let me know at that time Maverick was shot by the wolf hunters. But, don't worry, that's a secret to the other Alphas but not to Alpha James."
"W—what?"
"So many 'what?' to say. Hahaha. Yes, you shouldn't be surprised, bad news flies like a shooting star, remember? It's just one shot from someone and, boom! It spread like fire in twigs, hahaha!"
"I can see Noah has someone against him within his roof." Becky was so astonished.
"Yes, and that is non-other than me." A voice was heard and someone emerged from a dark corner in the room. A seemed like the person had been eavesdropping on them.
"Sadie?!" Becky was now finding a stronger word to replace stunned because right now, she felt more than just 'stunned'.
"Yes, it's Sadie. Afraid to see me?" Sadie walked gingerly like the boss lady towards Doctor Peters, wrapping her arms around his neck, she sat seductively on his lap and began to stroke gently his bears, keeping her gaze on Becky.
"You know Sadie, uncle?"
"Better said, she works for me too."
"You bastard!" Becky unconsciously, finally let the word out of her mouth. "I thought you ran away Sadie. So you're still sticking your nonsense ass here?" Becky still tried to tell herself that Sadie was not the mad woman she saw 2 days ago.
"Do you think that I will just disappear after what Maverick did to me?" Sadie scoffed. "I'm not a fool." She added, not looking a bit like that mad woman locked in the dungeon they all knew. Her ragged dress was gone and the short gown that stuck tightly to her body gave off her womanly curve that surprisingly was still there after all Maverick's attempt to deform it.
"I can see you are talking with your full senses now." Becky shirked "How I wish Noah had found you."
"So sad, he hadn't found me." Sadie drew a line on Doctor Peters's chest and giggled. "And now" She stood and walked gingerly towards Becky. "It's time to make Maverick's son pay for all the torture I went through at the hands of his father." She turned to Doctor Peters. "Right, honey?" Sadie asked Doctor Peters who nodded and said,
"Absolutely! That's very true my sweetheart." He stood and walked up to Sadie, encircling his hands around her waist, he played with Sadie's strands of hair that fell on her face.
"Then I will make sure Noah finds out about your evil plans!" Becky yelled and made to leave hurriedly out of the door.
