Trevor's POV
"Trevor." father said and stood up from his chair. My father and I never really had a good relationship. It was very professional but almost never personal. "Father," I said and shook his hand. "Please," he held his arm out to the chair in front of his desk, "have a seat."
"We need to talk about expanding the business. And I think that we should start our partnership with the Saunders family. They can help with marketing and selling stock."
I sighed. We didn't need any help from other people. My father's entire business makes up to thirty thousand dollars every ten minutes. And that's just in LA. And dad always said to never mix business with pleasure.
"Father, I don't think it's necessary for the partnership. We are doing good on our own."
"Trevor, I am going to be stepping down as CEO in a few months. By that time, you will have at least a month's intense training and I want to know that you will take care of the family business."
Even as a child, nothing I ever did was good enough for him. Even if something turned out perfect, it wasn't good enough for him.
"How's Sarah?" my father asked.
"She's long gone. We broke up months ago. I have someone else in mind now."
Yes, I admit it. I can have any girl I want. But there's one girl in particular that I can get out of my mind. How the hell is she doing that?
"Father, I'm not here to discuss my sex life with you. So, let's continue, shall we?"
The moment those words escaped my lips, I regretted it. My father didn't deserve that. But nothing I ever do is good enough...
After our meeting, I stepped outside seeing the lovely Amabel sitting by her desk and typing away on her laptop. "I'll see you around... Miss Avery," I said and I knew that I was smirking. I can't help but see her biting her bottom lip. Damn.
She only nodded, looking unaffected by me. But I know, it's just a pretense. Walking away, I looked back in her direction one last time before getting to the elevator. Making my way to the front doors in the main lobby I knew that all the women's eyes were on me.
The security guard, Caleb, opened the door and greeted me with my car keys. "Mr. Walker. Your keys," he said with the nod of his head. I took the keys from his hand and opened my car door and revved away.

Amabel's POV
I cannot be distracted or feel any kind of affection for him whatsoever. "Amabel!" Oh, dear. Mr. Walker is angry.
"Yes, Sir? Are you alright?"
"May I offer you a piece of advice, free of charge?" I nodded and smiled nervously. "Never have children," he said and made his way to his drinks on the right side of the office. "Sorry?" I asked in confusion.
"That son of mine, he's troubled. I don't know what I'm going to do with him. He makes me so angry, I feel like punching a hole with my fist in the wall. But, he's my son. Besides, Katherine will never forgive me. Like they say, 'Happy wife, happy life...'"
I couldn't help but chuckle at Mr. Walker's words. Though, it must be hard for him to leave his life's legacy behind to his son. He is going to miss it a lot. I'm sure he has nothing to worry about. I'm sure Trevor is ready.
"Sir, if I may, I think you should take a break. It's time for lunch," I said and made my way to the door. "Amabel?" he called.
"Thank you," he said.
"You're welcome, Sir." There was still something bothering me. Something I needed to say. I turned around and faced Mr. Walker again.
"Sir, I know you're under a lot of pressure. You work very late hours and your marriage is not what it used to be. You said it yourself that you need to work on your marriage. To do something special for your wife. I think the pressure you're under could become less if you maybe trusted your son. To believe in him. Maybe your methods will be different, but if it works, then that will also be good. Maybe if you put your trust in him, you might be able to give some of your tasks to him, relieving you from some of your burdens?"
A frown of deep thoughts appeared on his face. Seems like he was agreeing with me. He would never tell me that!
"I'm afraid you're right, Amabel."
Wait, what? I'm right? Hell, yes I'm right. Damn, that feels good.
"Maybe Trevor is ready. He's been watching what I'm doing since the age of thirteen. He has a lot of experience and his grades are fantastic. Almost too perfect. Don't tell him I said that," he said pointing his finger at me.
A smile appeared on my face and I loved this feeling that I am right.
Amabel! Are you stupid? He can't come here. You'll be working together and it will be that much harder to concentrate on your job, on school... You will only work here until Mr. Walker steps down as CEO and then finds another job. Hopefully, that will be after I graduate.
"Amabel?"
"Yes. I mean, yes, Sir?"
He glared at me. I began to feel guilty. Damn, you, Trevor Walker!
I brought Mr. Walker his lunch and went back to my desk, getting back to work. That's when I remembered... Gwen...
I took out my phone and sent a quick message:
Hey,
We're getting drinks tonight. I'm bringing Ella, my co-worker. We need to get a few things out of our minds.
Then a message to Ella:
Hey there,
Hope you are okay. Send me your address. We're picking you up.
Amabel xx
The day was incredibly long. I don't even think I'll have the strength to go out for drinks tonight. I can't bail now. I made plans with Ella and Gwen. What if Trevor was there? Would something happen again? Amabel!!!
