Capítulo 166: CHAPTER 162

After Allison and Boyd left, Tristan was left to himself and all he could do was think, think and think.

Actually, now that he thought about it, especially the perspective he had after his tumble with Jennifer, the Alpha Pack actually considered Jennifer a threat.

Despite how they all carried themselves, the fact that they were still laying low for a chance to jump her made it clear how much caution they were putting into her.

'Still… Deucalion.'

Thankfully, he hasn't had the misfortune of coming across Deucalion on multiple occasions but the feeling he got from the old Alpha was a freshly imprinted sensation in his head.

No doubt he was more terrifying than anything Tristan felt from Jennifer and the palpitations of her fear whenever she spoke of him was a tell of its own.

…..

[POV: With Scott McCall]

Scott fell to his knees, panting from exhaustion while partially shifted.

"You are holding too much control, Scott." Deucalion stood in front of him leaning against his cane. "Sometimes it's better to let go. You can't always protect what you want to if you keep holding back."

Scott frowned.

This has been an issue ever since his abduction and out of everything he expected from a kidnapping, what he didn't expect as a variable was Deucalion teaching him control by letting go of it.

"Like it or not; let it grind, aggravate and grate against your moral bones, at the end none of it matters when you fail." Deucalion said, his voice not harsh or persuasive.

"You said you'd let me go back home when the time comes." Scott argued, clearly not happy at the fact that his mother, best friend and all the people he cared about were all worried about his well-being. His mother was the most worried, no doubt.

"I said you can go anytime you want after learning control," Deucalion said. "If you think you can fight this woman in the event she comes for you or your family then I'll have you know that you have only yourself to blame for whatever comes of it."

"I-I…" Scott tried saying something but no words came out. It wasn't like he had a choice. No matter how his situation might look now, he was still a prisoner here.

All he knew was that Deucalion needed to see something from him and that was what scared him. No matter how hospitable the blind Alpha has been to him from the beginning, he had no illusions that anything Deucalion was long-term interested in was something good.

"Take heart, you will learn. Though in what way still remains to be seen." Deucalion folded his cane and turned away to walk out of the room.

"DAMN IT!" He shouted and slammed his hands against the ground in a fit of rage, only for his face to scrunch up as his hands flared up in pain with definitely a few broken bones.

He was confused and lost and in pain. Who knows when Deucalion's patience with him would run out and the fed up Alpha would just dispose of him or have the twins do it?

…..

[POV: Satomi Ito]

Satomi thought her heart had stopped when Derek had told of what had happened to Tristan mad as if the world was mocking her further, she just had to be at the other side of Beacon Hills.

It was weird how the bond she shared between her and Tristan was stronger than the others of her pack but she could care less about it. When it came to Tristan, it was more of an instinct to protect her grandson than the duty of an Alpha to protect its cub.

If she were to be more honest with herself, everything happening as of late left her feeling incredibly lost. She was over a hundred years old, a pacifist Alpha; time had done it's due to the wise Alpha, which was why she wanted Tristan to actually put himself on the pedestal of being an Alpha.

The Darach was already too strong for one Alpha if it could escape Tristan and Derek, which meant Deucalion would soon reveal the play in his hands, and that made her extremely cautious.

For a werewolf Alpha, Deucalion was at the peak of his years being in his 50s, unlike her who was already past her 100th.

She sighed despondently while her fingers flicked as it circled the beads her hands were holding.

"I feel like the time for us, the old generation, has long passed. Why are we still causing problems for the younger ones?"

No matter how many times she asked herself that question, she could never come up to a single tangible answer that she could wholeheartedly accept.

"We are supposed to be the guide of the new generation; a kindle to their burning embers."

She didn't make a choice, because there was not one to be made. When duty and obligation align, the factor of a choice no longer becomes available, it becomes something else.

Some might call it destiny or fate, but to Satomi it was purpose.

In this very old and barebones room, Satomi sat leg crossed in a meditative position with her eyes closed, with only the rhythmic clicking of the beads she held in both hands resounding through the room.

…..

The only good thing that came from his fight with Jennifer, Tristan thought, was that it happened on the weekend, so he was all healed up for the school day… only to once again be hit by the burning sensation of the sun.

He had a few blood packs but those were barely enough for what he needed. Malia obviously gave herself anytime he felt his fangs itch but it still was nowhere near enough.

He felt, not knowing for certain, that he could go over a dozen humans and suck them dry and he would still be hungry for more.

He also didn't go out to hunt for a fresh human blood bag because he felt that with how weak he currently was, both mentally and physically, he would find it next to impossible to stop midway through his meal.

So he had no choice but to depend solely on Malia for blood to the point where he would be able to sate his thirst on his own.

What he didn't take into consideration the first time he thought about it was that he was now an Alpha, a Primearch, and a bloodborn to boot. He needed more than just 'some' blood. He needed a banquet of it.

"At this rate, it's almost as if you're not getting better." Malia remarked after feeding Tristan for the fifth time today.

Tristan awkwardly scratched his head, feeling bad about being such a burden to Malia. He had heard from Malia and Derek about what Chris had said about his hunger for humans and he couldn't help but agree.

Even now when he was desperately starved, the first thing his mind went to was drinking some human blood.

"Y'know, if you told the others about what you're going through, they'll help in a heartbeat." Malia suggested.

As much as he wanted to deny her words, he couldn't as it was true. If he told the pack that he was starved for blood and wasn't confident in feeding from humans, no doubt they'd offer their own blood, at least most of them.

"How about it? If Brett comes around later in the day, we'll tell him. At least we can get Jiang, Tierney and Demarco along with Brett and Lori. That should be more than enough for your thirst, right?"

"Yeah, probably." He agreed. With Jennifer out there and in the last stages of her sacrifices, no one knew what she was going to do. "I can't keep myself trapped inside this house."

With nighttime being the only time he could move freely, Tristan's irritation was at an all time high and for the first time since becoming a vampire, he felt sympathy for those species of vampires that couldn't walk freely under the sun.

"What?" He asked as he saw Malia looking at him and hesitating in something she wanted to say.

"Oh nothing." She waved it off nonchalantly, but still said what was on her mind. "Why didn't you accept Allison and Boyd's offer of blood?"

"You mean other than the fact that they are humans or that their blood would be more delectable to my taste buds just from the fact that I care about them?" He replied, but she didn't look fully convinced.

"And is that why you don't want to talk to Boyd about the supernatural world?" She asked and Tristan was stumped.

Was it a selfish wish of his to have at least some normal in his life? Maybe it wasn't fair to Boyd as his ignorance could be his fatal undoing, but was it fair to him?

"I don't want to deal with the fact that any time soon he'll be asking me to turn him into a vampire." Tristan simply said with a soft shrug and Malia left it at that.

"Maybe I'll ask them… if the offer of blood is still up." He added after a thought.

For someone who has been on a strict Malia and blood bag/animal blood diet for years, except on a few special occasions, him accepting to drink from other people he was close to was a big concession on his part… or it would have been to his past self, but now he came to that decision after a brief moment of introspection.
