Capítulo 36: UNSPOKEN LOVE

"Mission after mission...they won't even let us rest..." Evan said with a slight pout but his pout soon changed into a handsome smile when his gaze darted toward the girl beside him. "But at least it's you with me." He let out, his smile widening as he completely turned his face towards Megara. Megara kept her face straight, not sparing him a glance as she continued to walk with her sword in her hand.

The moon was up and the breeze was frigid in the grove. They can even hear wolves bellowing from afar. The town near the forest has been suffering from different phenomena for over a month now. Their people are dying without any exact reason, with no wounds and no other medical issues. Not only that, they have seen creatures lurking in the town at night.

So many people perished and then some weird things lurked in the town. This certainly is a work of a demon who resides in this grove.

"Stay focused," Megara said in a stern tone. If she goes slightly soft with him, he will start flirting with her and will forget about the mission in no time.

Evan clicked his tongue and walked beside her. The moonlight fell on them through the small fragments of the trees as they walked from under them. Evan pursed his lips and kept decreasing the distance between them. He bit his lower lip to control his smile when his shoulder touched hers.

Megara sighed in disbelief and side-glanced at him before straightening her gaze. "Such a kid." She whispered under her whiff but he heard it all loud and clear. His brows scrunched up in irritation as he stopped and fully turned toward her. She ignored him and continued to walk, leaving him behind.

At this point, she couldn't properly focus anymore.

"Scarlet, I'm not a kid. I'm a man." He said, almost yelling. She ignored him and continued to walk. She abruptly stepped back and raised her right palm, a sharp blade-like air left their attached palms, and the leaves harshly rustled around them.

"How many times have I told you not to do this with me out of nowhere? I'm not used to your magic." Blossom said, glaring at him through her lashes but he was pissed as well. Pissed that she takes him as a kid and nothing else.

"Your teleporting magic is good but don't stand against me. You won't even be able to move." She said and he arched a perfect brow at her. "I'm not weak anymore." He proclaimed.

"You're not strong enough to fight me either." She said and lowered her hand. "Scarlet, why are you being so cold and arrogant with me?" He asked while folding his arms on his chest, a sullen expression plastered on his face.

Megara sighed in defeat once she saw his puppy expression. Stepping forward she raised her hand and patted his head. He closed his eyes, feeling her touch as if he was in heaven. "Don't be like that, we are on a mission. Once we are done with this, you can do whatever you want." She said and his eyes snapped open, they were sparkling with happiness and excitement.

"Then will you go with me to the garden, I have something to show you." He said and her eyes narrowed. "But didn't you just get beaten up last time by your father for going to the garden?" She asked and he shrugged.

"Who cares about him? I will use my teleportation magic. No one will know." He said, intently waiting for her reply. She parted her lips to say something but her voice got stuck midway and her pupils dilated. Not thinking much, she harshly pushed Evandros away. Evandros lost his steps and fell on the dirty ground covered with dead leaves.

Once he got to his senses and raised his head, his pupils shrank. "SCARLET." He yelled at the top of his lungs, Scarlet held the sword in her left hand as blood dripped down from her right arm. Her right sleeve was torn up and big claw marks can be seen on her white arm through which blood was pouring out like rainfall.

A painful grunt escaped her lips as she eyed the demon standing before her. She heard Evan and from the corner of her eyes, she saw him standing up. The demon turned his head towards Evan and before he could attack Evan as well, cold chains were wrapped around his neck and he was dragged back. The demon's back hit the trunk of the tree as Megara tied the demon against the tree.

Sweat dripped down her forehead as her right arm was completely wounded and she was forcing it to work since she only knew how to use chains from her right arm and was still trying to get a hold of this technique.

Once she succeeded in tying the demon against the trunk of the tree, her grip loosened on her sword as she stumbled back and was about to fall back but a hand grabbed her waist from behind and stabled her up. She roamed her left hand on Evans's chest while breathing heavily.

"You're all good." She said and stared at the demon. She has soaked in sweat and the brim of her eyes was now red, indicating that she was controlling her painful tears.

"T-This demon is certainly not the demon who lurks in the town. Th-There are many demons sheltering in this forest. We must inform the hi-higher ones." She stammered while breathing heavily. She stood up straight on her feet and straightened her stance.

"Let me in-inform them." She was about to bite her thumb to summon the spiritual Eagle but he grabbed her hand, she frowned and raised her gaze to look at him. Her heart dropped in the pit of her stomach when she found him crying.

"Ahh...Ha...are you hurt?" She asked, panicked. Not caring about her wound she raised both of her hands and reluctantly grabbed his cheeks, cupping them. The demon was growling and grunting, trying to free himself.

Big fat tears rolled down his cheeks as he cried out. When he didn't answer Megara panicked even more, thinking she pushed him too hard and he ended up hurting himself but she also knew he wouldn't cry for such a thing. He doesn't cry when he is in pain at all. She had never seen him crying like this no matter what. She panicked thinking about the worst scenarios that occurred in just a minute with him.

Her breathing was heavy as she grabbed his arms and kept staring at him with eyes barely open.

"Why did y-you do t-that? W-Why did y-you hurt yourself b-because of me?" He asked and her panic vanished in an instant, her tired face became even more fed up once she realized why he was crying. They were in the middle of a dangerous mission and here he was crying just because she got hurt. How will he attain the throne with this fragile attitude of his? A faint smile caressed her lips when she realized he was like this only with her but still, he amazes her with this behavior of his.

She let go of his arms and stepped back. She put her left hand on her bleeding arm and stepped back. He abruptly wrapped his hands around her waist as if she was about to fall. "Let me hold you." He said while sobbing as if he was hurt and walked towards the tree pretty far from the demon who seemed to be escaping the chains sooner.

He helped her sit under the tree. He grabbed her right arm gently in his hands and examined it. A painful grimace plastered on his face as he sniffed. His right hand glided towards the small pouch around his waist as he shuffled his fingers inside it. He took out a small bottle of ointment but it was very less to heal this huge bleeding wound, he cursed under his breath and applied all of it to her wound, tears won't stop rolling down his cheeks.

He took out his napkin and wrapped it around her wounded arm. He moved away and looked at her face. Her eyes were closed but she was half-conscious. He raised his hand and pushed her wet hair away that was sticking to her forehead. He gulped and took out a knife not thinking much he cut his palm.

Not wasting a single drop of his blood, he moved forward, grabbed her neck from behind, and attached his palm to her lips. A disgusting scowl made its way onto her face and she tried to move away but he tightened his grip on the back of her neck. She was half-conscious but too weak to open her eyes or move.

"Shhh, it's syrup. Drink it, you will heal faster." Once his soothing words fell on her ears, she stopped pulling back and started to suck on his hand desperately. His jaw clenched and his chin wobbled as he stared at her. This explained how much pain she was in and how much sooner she wanted to get rid of this pain. Once she was done, he pulled his hand down and made her back rest against the trunk of the tree.

He heard the harsh sound of chains falling on the ground. He slowly stood up and turned towards the demon who was rushing towards him. He twisted his neck and narrowed his gaze, his black hues turning red.

*********

"What? All the demons are dead?" Megara looked at the villagers in shock. She turned her gaze to look at Evandros who also had a shocked expression plastered on his face. Since he was standing right beside her, she moved toward his ear.

"What is happening? Did you kill all of them?" She asked in a whisper and he shook his head in denial. "I didn't." He whispered back. "Then who did?" She asked and Evandros shrugged. He moved back and pointed towards Megara.

"This woman here is your savior. She killed all the demons in the forest." Evandros yelled and Megara looked at him in shock. What the hell was he talking about? She couldn't even bring one demon down and was knocked out before the fight. Before she could say anything the villagers surrounded her, thanking her and asking her to eat over at their places. Some of them even handed her different gifts as thank you. She was in sheer confusion. If it wasn't Evandros then who was it? Why did he lie it was her? Maybe, someone else did it and this fox is taking all the credit. She passed him a side glare through the crowd and he just smiled at her.

Surprisingly her arm wasn't hurting at all. Looks like Evandro's godly medicine worked again.
