Capítulo 49: Traceless Hyena
Lin Cian smiled at the people in front of him. He wanted to prove that he is strong enough to join the party. He also got the approval of William before doing something. Lin Cian extended his hands and the bodies of many beasts filled the ground. The party of five members was very shocked to see the scene in front of them.
The whole party turned towards a person who was sitting near a tree. He seems to be a quiet member of the party. He wore something weird which also seemed to be black but upon a clear glance, it can be found as blue. A very dark blue. He was a meter and 30 inches tall. He must be in his mid-thirties. He had black hair with countable white strands. His eyes were sharp looking as they were eager to pierce anything and had a brown outer and black center colored pupil. His face seemed emotionless and cold but his hands always were active towards the curved sword he wore and his senses were always watching over the surroundings. His nose was a little bigger and had a trace of mustache and beard around his mouth.
He walked towards the dead bodies of the beasts. When he came near one of the dead beasts he took one knee and started to analyze. His eyes widened. He looked at William and Lin Cian in a confused manner and then continued to stare at the dead bodies of beasts. He repeated it a few times.
"Cuts were clean... thrusts in the vital points... No sense of fight or struggle...… Thrust with a long pole..... What?.. This?..."
He murmured something whenever he was looking at a new wound. When he found some unusual traces of attacks like an explosion, water ball, and wind blade he understood most of the things. When he finished analyzing the corpses he found that all his party members were staying silent but were staring at him.
"Traceless Hyena," he said with a calm tone. His tone sounds like he was calm but inside he was wondering what kind of freaks are these kids.
The other members of the party were also stunned by the words of their vice-captain.
"Traceless Hyena?" they began to realize the moment they had with the certain beast.
Lin Cian and William were silent to the extent that the five members of the party forget their existence. They commented on each other when they heard the name of the beasts but suddenly everyone became silent and looked at June's face.
Her face was pale. Her eyes are watery and she had her hands clenched tightly. She seems to remember her bad past. She was very nervous. William and Lin Cian saw that the five members of the party were very quiet.
"Who killed them?" June's sound emitted a flame of anger.
"We both did our part," said Lin Cian in a quiet tone.
"Fine. I approve" said June with a heavy heart and moved away towards a tree little away from the rest of the party. Lin Cian realized how heavy her voice sounds when she saw the bodies of the beasts.
'Maybe this made her remember her past' Lin Cian and William thought themselves.
When Lin Cian collapsed after fighting and killing those beasts William tried to take him out of the forest but Lin Cian handed over the ring in his hand to William and said
"Take... them" he fainted after that. William already knew that Lin Cian have a space ring and Lin Cian also thought him how to use it already when they were in the academy.
William exerted a small amount of his mental energy into the ring and the ring started to devour all the beasts. He then wore the ring to the index finger of Lin Cian and carried him on his back.
The 'Traceless Hyenas' were animals with high intelligence. The intelligence had can be compared to that of humans. They had their own tactics. They play a perfect team game. They leave in packs called clans. These types of beasts are also called noble type beasts among hunters. It is called so because status matters a lot in their clan. Strength and Contribution don't matter among them. The position of a hyena is decided since birth. As for how they classify their status it's said only a well-known researcher can understand that because it is complicated to understand.
One of the reasons to name them so is because they were intelligent enough to leave no trace behind. Because leaving a trace of its killed prey or predator may alert them so they will leave no trace behind. The bloodstains on the ground will be covered by dirt or mud and some dirt will be placed over them to cover the smell. As for the remains they will eat everything including the bones. No animal can compared to the strength it have on its jaws.
Their primary tactic was to chase their prey and fool around with it until they are exhausted and then they will hunt them. They were very good in team attacks. They are only afraid of the male lion-type beasts.
As soon as the beasts saw the slaughter among them they decided to sacrifice William and Lin Cian to their leader to increase the strength of their leader. Beasts increase their ranks by eating because they won't meditate as humans do. They fed on the energy of their prey to improve their strength.
The beasts throw themselves towards the duo so that the strength of the duo will be reduced over time. Then it will be easy for their leader to hunt them and become stronger. If not for Lin Cian's understanding of the tactics of the beasts and the perfect cooperation of William they would be dead meat by now.
William threw himself towards the leader of the pack and Lin Cian took care of the little ones. William fought with three strong beasts at the same time while Lin Cian fought over twenty low-rank beasts. Thus securing their victory, most importantly their life.
The sharp hearing senses which Lin Cian had allowed him to hear the cry of June. She cried very quietly hiding it from others. Lin Cian stared at her for a minute. He felt sorry for her. He doesn't know how can he help her. He had a similar feeling with her. He also seems to be familiar with her.
