Capítulo 21: Mad Scientist
Desmond, the mad scientist, was an ordinary researcher before the zombie apocalypse hit. However, he found his life more exhilarating amidst the chaos and danger that came with the new world. His job became experimentation on the zombies using the PANTAO, a vaccine that was released to the public before the creation of PSM9. Desmond managed to create a supersoldier serum by mixing PANTAO with NEBULA, a substance found in zombie blood, in a specific ratio.
However, the serum he created was faulty, as evidenced by his transformation into a level 4 zombie after injecting himself with it in front of ZEU3 Squad 1 during their mission to destroy the underground lab. While his serum was supposed to create superhuman soldiers, it had the opposite effect and turned him into an uncontrollable monster with no intelligence or reasoning skills.
Faced with the threat of the transformed Desmond, the only thing Squad 1 could do was to escape the facility and blow it up with all the C4s they planted. This was a necessary measure to prevent the serum from falling into the wrong hands and possibly creating more monsters like Desmond.
The situation with Desmond was a reminder of the dangers of uncontrolled experimentation and the importance of taking precautions when developing new vaccines and drugs. It was clear that more research and testing were necessary before anything was released to the public, especially in a time of crisis like the zombie apocalypse.
The experience with Desmond also highlighted the importance of having well-trained and equipped teams like ZEU3, who were capable of handling dangerous situations and making quick decisions when necessary. Without their skills and quick thinking, the situation with Desmond could have turned out much worse
