As the WZCD issues orders to defeat the "Kaijus" appearing worldwide, Lawrence and Mary find themselves contemplating quitting their jobs as ZEU soldiers. They have grown disillusioned with the WZCD's single-minded focus on accomplishing their goals, regardless of the methods used. Vincent's order for Mary to kill Luna, Zoe, and Ryder, despite knowing her limitations, serves as a prime example. Furthermore, Vincent's brutal treatment of Zoe, a ten-year-old child, leaves them deeply disturbed.
In a stark contrast, six months after their fight with Vincent, Luna and Ryder make the decision to get married. Considering the ongoing apocalypse, their wedding is a simple affair where they exchange vows and wear wedding rings. Following their marriage, Luna and Ryder decide to adopt Zoe and embark on a journey to find a new home.
After a month of searching for the ideal location – one with a nearby freshwater source and devoid of zombies – they stumble upon a mountain. Curiously, the mountain has a massive lake, and zombies inexplicably avoid it. As Zoe, who is also a zombie, approaches the mountain, she experiences an eerie shiver. Despite the strange aura, Ryder believes this is the perfect place for their new home.
Ryder takes on the task of building their house, collecting resources such as wood, stones, clay from the mountain, and metal pipes and iron nails from a nearby city. With Luna's ability to petrify the entire house, it becomes both aesthetically pleasing and sturdy, resembling a beachside villa. Once they settle into their new home, they focus on becoming self-sufficient by building a farm. They plant crops such as wheat, rice, tomatoes, corn, and bell peppers to sustain themselves.
However, their peaceful existence is disrupted when the mountain suddenly starts shaking and moves in the opposite direction of the city. It is revealed that the mountain they are living on is not a mountain at all but a mythical creature known as "Archelon." Archelon is one of the Kaijus that have appeared on Earth, the very beings the WZCD is attempting to eliminate. Ryder strikes a deal with Archelon, offering protection from the WZCD in exchange for allowing Luna, Zoe, and himself to live on the creature.
As Archelon poses no threat to the WZCD and with three of the strongest fighters living on it, the organization decides to leave Archelon alone. This agreement provides Luna, Ryder, and Zoe with an unexpected ally and a safe place to call home.
