That night, I was chatting with Ron on the phone. He didn't say it, but I knew he was desperate to be my boyfriend. I didn't say it, but I knew I could do better. Still, I decided to string him along as my plan continued to evolve.

"Maybe my mom can drive us there." I was talking about the school where his father was principal.
